  2. Summer's arrived in so anyone after a grunty low wind kite? Been flying my de-powers or small fixed bridles most of the time so need to thin out the quiver. Only flow twice since I bought it last year in dry conditions on grass, so it's in the same condition as purchased. £150 ONO + P&P Photos still on flickr link in this thread. Cheers Steve
  3. 10m/6m Access II/XC combo works for me for cruising/powersliding and staying on the ground. Stable and predictable. Also have a 4m Advance Killer depower in the bag if it gets too windy for the 6m. I'm 12.5 stone. A good used '06/07/08 will stand you in good stead. Ozone's Megatron chicken loop can be retofitted to older models for Happy hunting!
  4. Can't say anything that's not already been said. I'll just add my sincere wishes for Andy's continued recovery. Let's hope that the ignorant scum who perpetrated this cowardly crime are brought to justice
  5. Just noticed the Powerkiteshop prices - Kite Only RTF add £44 Peter Lynn Reactor 2 (II) - 2.2m: £264.95 2.8m: £284.95 3.5m: £309.95 4.4m: £349.95 5.5m: £389.95 6.9m: £429.95 8.6m: £469.95 10.8m: £499.95
  6. Where I fly most folks leave a stake at the launch area as a marker or to tether another kite. I carry a few spare stakes in my buggybag. Others strap to the downtube or use leg sheath. The buggy itself is a good anchor point after an OBE or other mishap.
  7. Offer received for £150 + P&P (via PM). £160 + P&P will secure This is the lowest I'm prepared to let this beauty go for. BTW - the patch on the sail is apparently standard for Libre Bora/Vampir kites (not a pin-hole repair)
  8. Like Frakke, I started with a board & buggy in 2001 (yes, another life-begins-at-40 pastime). Having skated back in the 70's and snowboarded for over a decade, boarding seemed like the natural progression for me (the Blade/Frenzy route) until a serious, permanent ankle injury put my partly airborne boarding days to an end. Personally, I enjoyed both disciplines regardless of expertise (or lack thereof). However, on returning to the sport about 18 months later, buggying was the only practical option ...... but I'm as happy as pig in sh*t to still be flying kites So, is buggy vs boarding an age thing? Well, boarding could be regarded as a little more 'hip & trendy' to some (possibly younger folks with small cars). Others, with less of a natural sense of balance (possibly older folks with people carriers / estates) might feel more comfortable with the natural 'riding a tricycle' style of buggies. It's hard to generalise, but one thing is certain ....... when your legs / knees / feet & back start to fail then the attraction & practicality of the 'mobile commode' does grow stronger IMO, the bigger age-related factor is the style of kiting rather than the mode of traction. In general, older kiters are more likely to have more responsibilities than a single, unemployed young student, so older folks (myself included) might veer away from freestyle disciplines (think Frenzy/Blades) to minimize risk of serious injury and any related consequences (like retaining your job). Yes, the sport by it's very nature attracts a degree of risk, but cruising or power-sliding on a board/buggy (think Access/Bullet) carries a relatively lower chance of injury .... on average. As for racing, on the surface this does seem to attract folks who are out of their teens (yes, there are exceptions where parents & children both race). Maybe this is because older participants tend to have more disposable income, a bigger car/van for transporting kit, and are possibly closer to having a mid-life crisis than your average spotty teenager
  9. 2 PMs received. Thanks. First in queue gets first refusal
  10. Pics added on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/43173612@N05/sets/ As you can see from the photos, it's in very good condition Kite originally bought on this forum .... http://forum.kitecrowd.com/showthread.php?t=166095&highlight=bora
  11. Libre Bora 8.5m in Yellow/Green/Black trim. Complete with handles, ~30m quad lines & original Libre black stuff sack. Sail & bridles are in very good condition apart from some faint sand marks on the black wing tip and one well-hidden, but well repaired pin-hole (all from previous owners). [Edit - seems this is just a Libre patch, not a repair. This is standard on Libre and other kites] Will post pics as soon as the gale force winds die down in the West of Scotland. Bought end-Jun for £175 from a fellow forum member who paid £200 just prior to that. I have flown it once briefly on grass to set it up but have not used it since due to good local winds and the fact that I've been flying mainly depower recently. Stable, but very grunty race kite for 7-12mph range. Not recommended for beginners! Sensible offers please.
  12. Thanks. I guess same goes for the 12m that you mate is selling.
  13. Any photos? Which year? Bought from new?
  14. Bump. Great price for great low wind kite. Mine sold for £200 RTF inc p&p earlier this year.
  15. Ozone 4.5m Cult might fit your quiver. Top quality kite, fine for beginner/intermediate buggying and dirt cheap nowadays. Discontinued now (replaced by the Flow but lots about used). These were down to ~£175 RTF for a new one a few months ago. My 3.5/4.5m pair went for £100/£120 RTF respectively on Ebay and this forum a few months ago (both pristine condition). IMO as a buggier ..... - My Cults had a better build quality that my Blurr. - My 3.5m Blurr is more fun to fly than my 3.5m Cult (more grunt, faster, adjustable) but I'm not a fan of the new handles. - My Brooza II 2m is by far the most fun kite in my quiver (lines are so-so, you either love/hate the handles). Build quality good enough for racers so no probs there. Shame they don't make a 3.5m! Bottom line, try before you buy if you get the chance.
  16. Thx Paul. Sounds like it fits the bill for buggiers who like to cruise but might have a bit of a hidden freestyler inside. Do you ride captive in the buggy?
  17. Didn't realise you'd had the Manta long, Paul. I'm sure you must have mentioned it. Must admit, they sound great for when the 10m Access & Yak 6m don't get me going .... but curious about the lift. Hopefully Chopper's Bora will plug the gap when the winds are low; it should arrive tomorrow. Cheers
  18. How's the big Manta, Paul? I'm sticking with a mix of fixed & depower so I'm taking Chopper's 8.5m Bora off his hands. I was on the blower to him tonight and he mentioned that you'd sourced a nice 15m recently. Is it quite manageable in the buggy or do you really need to throw it about for it to get lifty? I'm thinking it's maybe as smooth/stable as an Access XC but relatively quicker through the air (for such a big kite) and with bigger depower range.
  19. Very pleased with the Vamp Race so far, Mike. Haven't had the right conditions to get it out on a good beach run yet (it's been been mainly 2m or 10m kite weather recently) but on the 3 flights at Stevenston it certainly cut the mustard (no pun intended). Setup from Paul was great so no tweaks were needed. It certainly has plenty of grunt and flies nicely on the brakes. Seems like it could lift me out of my seat if overpowered, although it seems to require a little less attention than the Yaks (in terms of keeping it going and preventing luffs).
  20. Think it would have to be 15m Manta, Neil, as a 12m would cover a similar wind range as your Access 10m. This is based on info on the Ozone site: An 8m Manta == 6m Access XC, so I'd assume that a 12m Manta == 10m Access XC? Wouldn't really recommend a Frenzy for the buggy. I've buggied with an old 7.3m in smooth conditions and it was OK but I'd expect them to be a bit of a handful and might catch you out if you just want to cruise (compared to the relatively stable Access and less grunty Manta). Decisions, decisions. How about stacking a few depowers?
  21. bump. Bought one of Gray's old 'unbadged' Yaks (2.7m) off him a while back. Well looked after and still going strong ...... has a good blast with it tonight.
  22. Bump for a top bloke who sounds like he should be a Welshman Would be tempted by the 8.6m myself, Owain ..... but couldn't justify splashing out that kind of $ on a nice big black Combat with my flying skills. Eyebrows would be raised in the household! Will leave it for the true racers who can coax the best out of it.
