  1. That looks excellent
  2. There in lies the problem, my local Flexifoil Main Dealer sold me a 4.9 Blade 2 without questions, and was trying to push the 6.4 as I'm 6'4" and well built. Its just £350-400 sale to them. I can thoroughly recommend the Airbossworld Advanced Power kiting course.
  3. anybody building doom wheels needs help good luck
  4. sleeve the first two inches of the leader line with pvc tube works a treat to stop chaffing
  5. I've used Flexifoil lines on my Blade, S10s, Skytiger, and Bullet with no problem, although I have recently shuffled line sets between kites and purchased Ozone lines and Handles for the bullet and these are very nice, and are nice colours to boot. I don't think there is much difference between line sets, buy quality dyneema, and check the length after the first flight and adjust as required
  6. What really gets my goat is the fact I fly at a SPORTS field, its not a park, its a SPORTS field yet these buttholes have no concern about letting their dogs dump as they desire.
  7. Doubtful, the reservoir isn't that big in reality when being used, much of the end toward Oakham can't even be sailed on as it nature reserve. Then the two sides are split pretty much sailing and windsurfing, and are packed out at weekends, add in the cycling, and general tourism the reservoir is not at all kite friendly unless its at the crack of dawn or winter/cold. Add in the old school sailing club who are in league with the water authority and its case closed pretty much. A kite surfer compared to a winsurfer will use way more space/water. Another point to remember is the reservoir has some strange wind, being in a valley and the hambleton peninsula can screw things up well.
  8. The sixth form is on the melton road, go past the train station and as you take the left hand bend the college is on the right continue a little further and the showground is behind the big white gates. As for kite surfing the reservoir I doubt if they'll ever allow it, the sailing club is too powerful and run by old farts. The windsurfers had problems for a long time, and ultimately a new fishing lodge got built, and the windsurfing got a base at Whitwell without the fihermen. I believe various bodies have approached the authorities on surfing the reservoir so who knos maybe one day .
  9. Best place I know was the showground by the Sixth Form college. Borough on the hill can be flown but the wiond is alwasy full on up there. No places really at the reservoir unless you go very early in the morning, or in the winter to Normanton car park. Barnsdale on top of the hill in the car park.
  10. Yes it very good, I'm itching to get out on mine ASAP. really well made and ideal for those older and heavier riders who just want to cruise. Build quality is excellent. I'm going to try donhilling on mine this weekend doub it will match my old Outback mountain board (no board will) but i just want to play bout with the settings, springs & elastomers.
  11. are you using this bar without a harness? If so thats your problem IMO get the strop hooked onto the arness and you'll have a spre hand when you need it.
  12. If you have the Flexifoil bar, which it sounds like you haven't got a depower system. The kite is effectively a two line kite with the brakes being using partly for steering with the pulley system and as a kite killer when you let go of the bar, via the wrist strap. I've found the best way to land my 3.5 on the bar is to fly it to the edge and then leaving the strop hooked onto the harness carefully pull on the 'brake' line in front of the bar it will pull the brakes on. Unfortuntely this bar system is not a nice all singing and dancing depower like you find on the Frenzy. Also you might find a harness like a Da Kine Speed Seat a better choice than the Quadrifoil much more comfortable, only £15 more, it does have a hook tho' but I prefer this for using a bar anyway.
  13. Got a Kava board and I'm assembling it as per instructions seem to be missing the little washers/rings that go either side of the wheels between spacer and nut. Photo steps 2 & 4, is this correct??
  14. they claim the bladder are virtually burst proof and advertise them with a car driving over the badder. top product, well worth the money
  15. when I open up my little VW I can get 8mpg and outrun most things on the street
  16. could have been an Ozone Imp, very fast and spins/loops very well
  17. you'll like this site then http://thesamba.com/vw/gallery/index.mv and if you think that kiting is expensive and time consuming, wait until you get into the air cooled VW scene. I've spent thousands restoring and tuning my bug, and most weekends during the summer are shows
  18. old doc martins whenthe are treadless, & smooth as a smooth thing, the fastest scudding shoes I've yet found especially if its a little wet
  19. I'm finding turning quick enough with the bar, you can cetrainly see the pulley setup pulling on the lines. I like it
  20. I'm flying my 3.5 bullet n the new Flexifoil bar, very nice. The 4.9 Blade 2 flys very icely on this setup too. The safety systems are excellent especially when hooked in, saved me & the kite a few times
  21. anybody actually wear a helmet for static flying, scudding, jumping, etc. I got dropped on my back heavy on Monday evening and I've started thinking when I ride my mountain bike I wear a helmet and that is much safer than kiting, also noticed Powerkiteshop recommend knee pads and helmet.
  22. Yeah but only stitched at the end fitting to the kite, the other end can be adjusted as per normal.
  23. If you don't want to pay what is being asked then fine but too many people on this forum who have no intention of buying items like to post and tell people they are asking too much. a good example of which is here; http://64.207.131.40/community/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10826
  24. I don't kinow where the hell I'm going wrong the thought of good wind and my 4.9 blade scare the hell out of me, even in very low wind it just drags my 17stone ass along
  25. several times I have seen people state they didn't like the 4.9 blade on the VPS, why is this?? I'm looking at it due to my back trouble & I don't want to get rid of the blade as its only a few months old. How depowered can you get the kite?
