mmmh maybe Hugh should check this out? link: Brancaster Ban
  2. Thanks guys. One form in the post Monday!
  3. OK - just about to get my insurance sent off. Carefully filled in the form & checked it loads of times... But who do I make the cheque payable to???? (bit thick me!) The BBC site doesn't say - the PDF doc doesn't say! So all you chaps that have the insurance who gets to cash the cheque?
  4. Are there any signs at the opening of the beach explaining and/or showing people that there is a part of the beach for kiting? For non-kiters as much as us.
  5. Holkam / Wells is a special case - private beach due to royal links or whatever! They won't budge. I think we should concentrate efforts on not getting banned from other beaches. We can't rely on the councils apathy for long. One little accident & thats it - council wakes up & we are stuffed. I think we need to compromise and quickly. Agrevating the situation won't help one bit! That gives the 'Fun Police' more ammo to stop us from flying. None of us want that - oh apart from the rebels who want to fly on banned beaches, more of a thrill I suppose, sad muppets.
  6. Have a look at this thread regarding holkam/wells Generally peeps stay clear of thornham / titchwell due to the birds, which is why the beach is empty! As you will see from the other thread things are starting to get banned round this coast, so upsetting people is the last thing we as kiters should be doing (I know how frustrating it is though!) I would join the rest of us on Brancaster until things are better & we have chance to compromise with everyone. Have a heart for the little birds, a 4.9m blade must scare the s**** out of them!
  7. Hope you enjoy sun bathing more than you do kite flying. With that sort of attitude that's what we'll all be doing.
  8. On a more serious note has anyone been in contact with the BBC? As a local who uses the beaches around the Norfolk coast alot, I'm getting scared that this is definetly the thin edge of the wedge. I want to do something to keep everyone happy, people who use the beach, council, us the kite flyers etc before more beaches start putting a ban in place. I'm also sick of these idiots who have no consideration and are getting us banned from these great spots. All I want to do is have a great fly & buggy with people who want to do the same - not to sit at home because some jumped up pr**k has to fly his 4.9 Blade on the busiest part of a beach coz he cant be arsed to walk 100m!
  9. As per usual the actions of the inconsiderate few destroy it for all of us I wonder if EN would change their mind if we offered to pay more money at the car park? They say the charge goes towards the up-keep of the road down there - there must be about 90% admin charge then, coz that road is one of the worse kept funded roads I've seen!
  10. No idea - not a lawyer. We were told last year that the chap that 'owns' the beach was making a decision about buggies etc. Obviously he has! (No kites but nudists allowed) It's the usual story none of us can afford it:- to call their bluff & see if they prosecute or pay a lawyer to see what the law says! I suppose we all need to talk to organisations like the BBC etc to see if they can politely find out what the score is? Can't wait to see the polite signs they'll put up. Me - I'm more cynical: I think they don't want buggies etc because it takes away precious beach that the hoorahs pay £4 or whatever at the car park to sit on. Facists
  11. I stuff but as I walk back to the bag - a combo of both described!!
  12. What about the Libre Special if your budget is tight?
  13. Take a leap of faith and try parapacking. I find it isn't as quick as the trad way to pack up (but less effort) but so much safer & easier to unpack. I used to get tangles everytime when I wrapped round the handles (I was doing it wrong apparently). For the last month I've been the first flying everytime - tangle free! Parapacking we love you
  14. Had my 2.5 a few months and the handles are fine
  15. Already got a 2.5m Bullet with handles just wondering what the kite is like with a bar. Going to be getting either a 3.5 or 4.5 to buggy with and wondered if it's worth getting it with a bar instead?
