  1. I'd hardly call you an old man!!!!!!!!!! Think i'm going to have to keep the 15m for a while so i'll only be ksurfing with my 6.4 and 4.9, i'll have to wait for the magic money monster to bless me with an 8.5m. We'lll have to have a session with your 8.5 one day and if the wind picks up then we can put my 6.4 up! See you soon Have fun Rick
  2. Hi I've just learned to kitesurf with a 15m and 10m guerilla and they are fantastic kites. They are so stable and give nice floaty jumps and are good upwind. Now that i have learned i'm going to change to f one mach2's. In order to do this i'm selling my guerillas for £900 for the pair or £400ono for the 10m and £550ono for the 15m. Both will be supplied ready to fly with a 50cm bar for the 10m and a 60cm bar for the 15m. Let me know if you are interested Rick email: chpc16@bangor.ac.uk
  3. Does anyone out there have an idea of the windrange for kitesurfing with an 8.5m blade 3? Thanx
  4. You could try selling your firebees and s10 and buy a 4m or a 4.9m blade2 second hand. On a completely different note i notice that you live in warrington. I live in northwich whenever i am back from uni so i might see you round sometime. Come out to North wales for a really good fly!!
  5. The money is going to be spent by the council on signs and notices along the promenade so that the non-kiting public know where the kiters are allowed on the beach etc. Yes it is a pain in the ass that we have to pay but compared to the price of kites it's really cheap and i'd rather pay to have space on a beach than have kiting banned on the beach. If this permit system is successful then the plan is to extend it to other beaches and that way we will always have flying space.
  6. Not sure what stage2 is, i presume is turning etc. mtbing will definately help in the balance department. Have fun
  7. Hanging upside down (fully inverted) is possible but it takes alot of practice. After 4hours you will probably just be able to get up and stay on your board for a few seconds before falling off (assumming you have never tried it before). The lesson will spend alot of time on safety aspects and kit setup, then probably body dragging and finally water starting. I might be wrong though. Let us know how you get on
  8. Ok, there are several ways. Firstly you must be able to provide proof of insurance when purchasing permits so have your card at the ready. 1) You can pay £5 for a day permit, this can be purchased at the hut on the promenade. 2) You can buy a yearly permit for £35 from the hut. 3) You can join the north wales powerkite club at turbulence (http://www.ukkiting.com and email adam) for £5, then a yearly permit for the beach costs £10. Either way you need insurance. Goto http://www.ukkiting.com and check out the beach restrictions page or ring them at the store. Hope this helps Rick (p.s. the beach is really empty at the moment cos hardly anyone has a permit yet)
  9. They are superb! How high can you get? Well the answer has to be as high as you dare!!! In the right winds 30ft is easily achivable (preferably on a beach with nice clean winds and a soft landing). However these sort of jumps often result in a trip to hospital if you are not ready for them. Just make sure you are sensible. Start small, master the technique, then when you feel comfortable pop a big one!
  10. I was wondering if anyone could give me a rough guide as to the usable wind range for a 4.9m blade2 and a 6.4m blade2 on 2line setup for an approx 80kg rider (i.e. me) (board is 150cm). Thanx Rick
  11. £500 would be better spent on two kites i.e. a 2.1LD and a 4m blade. That way you would have a larger wind range covered the 2.1 for higher wind and the 4m blade for low wind. This way you wouldnt end up dead. Try a kite before you buy one to see what the power is really like. A 9m blade would be far too big and be unusable for a beginner in anything above 7mph. If you must go big for your first kite then dont go above a 4.9m blade Rick
  12. You arent coming to uni up here are you? If so i am trying to set up a uni club at bangor at the mo so it might be running in sept. If not then there are still loads of people up here who go buggying mtboarding kitesurfing etc etc etc. Best thing to do is check out http://www.ukkiting.com and have a browse, the shop in llandudno runs this web page. All the people up here are very friendly and willing to help anytime. You will be very happy kiting up here If you want mor info the email me at chpc16@bangor.ac.uk Rick
  13. Nice kite, lots of lift and grunt. I'd take it out in less than 15mph winds (less than 10 if you havent been kiting long or if its your first flight) just to get used to it before you take it out for a higher wind session. As for jumping, you'll have fun!!!!!!!!! They are much faster thru the sky than the blade 2's so the landings from jumps in the smaller sizes can be a bit hard. Just remember to bend those knees! After landing a jump, the blade 2's are very prone to luffing and falling thru the window unless the kite is steered to the edge of the window on landing. This has been sorted on the blade3's and they luff only slightly before reinflating assuming you have consistant and not gusty wind that is! Great kite Enjoy
