  1. Hi there, is this the one that was on Ebay but has been ended? Is it still for sale? I could well be able to improve my silly Ebay (tin-bin) offer for a KiteCrowd member!!
  2. Hi, going to try out Pentewan near dawn tomorrow, any advice since it's my first trip there? Anyone coming along? Looks a bit gusty but tide's good. Cheers.
  3. Suddenly, I'm watching my sugar intake :-O
  4. Well I popped by and ended up flying until dark with a few of the regular local guys up there. Great location for inland, was great to meet and fly with you guys, cheers, Andy.
  5. Thanks guys, the Facebook page looks a bit quiet, and the Forum looks closed. No panic, I'll drive by and see what's up. Cheers.
  6. Hi all, I'm passing Luton Tue eve, is anyone likely to be up at Stopsley? Is it OK to turn up and fly? Cheers, Andy. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  7. Airwalk skate shoes. I wore good strong high walking boots when learing and swore by them, saved many ankle twists during the falling over phase, but the D-rings or hooks shag your bindings! Now I just wear the Airwalks, but what do you do with the dangly laces if you don't tie them up!?
  8. Depower, Arcs and LEIs, I did learn on FB, and flew big blades on harness with strops and with bars. My general view these days would be to learn the basics with a FB on handles, then get a LEI right away. Yes, for landboarding inland or beach. Not sure about buggies, I don't do that ;-)
  9. Hi there, the pics up on Flickr only seem to be thumbnail size for me, maybe you could check and upload hi res? Cheers, good luck.
  10. Yeah, for now I'll almost always be on grass or sand! I agree setting the kite at a slightly lower 'punch factor' is a more sensible (flyable!) way to go for land use... I tend to fly overpowered, but overpowered on a 14.5m kite is a LOT of overpower!! Thanks for the insight Sparky, I'm going to fly on stock settings 4-line bridled... for 20 mins! Then will try the rear points (steer lines) to see how the turn/bar is affected, the maybe depending on the session, try the back points on the bridle (both ways rear!) Lot of permutations to play with, and that's only in one wind strength we hope!! How the heck can we get the time to test it all!? I'll let you know what I find! Andy.
  11. Yay good expanation, Thanks for the insight on your 14.5 style too! That's what I have (Ion3). I'll set it on the 'LOW' rear points for the bridle that will give me less depower and more power and agression, but set the rear lines to the back to reduce the bar pressure. This souns like what I want! Might need to test in some varying winds first! (I'm coming from slow old Arcs (G1) and newer Ozone Edge 13m - I like the Edge!!)
  12. LOVE this, hey thanks Sammy for posting that, just makes me wanna TRY harder! Andy.
  13. Hey Fiona, you got a lot of mishmash and some great insight above, hope you can sift that! To answer your question: There is very little difference in setup time betweeen Arcs and LEIs. In comparison to flying time, unless you fly for 1 minute and go home, the difference in setup time is negligible. As you know, Arcs need to inflate well by wind pressure alone to launch, while LEIs need YOU! Only in a good steady, maybe stiff breeze will the arc win (with experienced pilot!). Some arcs need more inflation to launch ok. If your LEI is BIG, or doesn't have 'one-pump' then it may take longer. As above, there are OTHER variables if you want to try Arcs! Oh, they take longer to pack up! Quite a bit longer really :-) Andy.
  14. No, just go to ProBolt Try NOT to click of the top level menu 'Titanium' !!!!
  15. You're just pimping for thanks now! Thanks Sirbo! Great site ;-) Someone said I should learn to use guw-gull once!!? What IS that?
  16. Thanks guys, Marky what you said rings loud bells with something I read or saw a while back... about the turn speed/bar pressure seeming the 'wrong way round'... I thought the same, and never conclusively answered this! However, I consoled myself with this possibility: Could it be that the wingtip rear line point is more to do with how it deforms the kite? We may be looking at the kite as a simple lever (which your observations follow correctly), but if acting on the kite closer to the trailing edge causes greater deformation (which is what steers these things) then maybe this is what causes faster turning, and possibly lighter pressure due to the 'lever' argument? Calling all physisistisists, and kite designers! Andy.
  17. Hi, searched and read a lot about the Ion 5-Line / 4-Line debate, but can't find the answer to this: The Ion 3 has 2 rear line attachment points, how do they affect the kite? I've read the manual, it doesn't mention them! My guess is bar pressure, if so what way, and is there any other behaviour changes? I'm sure I'll try it out myself when I get a chance, but interested in your experiences. Cheers, Andy.
  18. Great thanks Air Monkey, good useful site there.
  19. Cool Sirbo! Where'd you get them from? Are they stainless? My board's a Phsyco so bolts are 'through board', but may get a GLD later. Be sure to send Chaos some!! Nice one Chaos. Andy.
  20. Thanks Cheeks, 2007 was a sweet time for the Ozone Instinct range. That Sport looks fine, funny holes in it though... did you get MOTHS!?? Otherwise, looks in super condition.... let me know if it's still available in a couple of months!! Could be a great high wind option (when I've got more dough). Have a morning BUMP!! Andy.
  21. OMG, my 100th post was such an anticlimax...
  22. Wow! some sweet gear there matey, have a bump :-) Andy.
  23. Hi Cheeks, What 2007 11m Ozone kite is it exactly!? If it's an Edge then I'll take a look? Cheers, Andy.
  24. Wow is this a common failure (I admit mishandling it on the ground)? tobias did this happen when your's was on the ground too, or did you just mean the damage was similar? (Did you crash it!! :-) ) Thanks for the comments, I sent the pics to Kitemare and had a very swift reply, with detailed quote, so defo repairable. Problem is, can I afford it / is a 2007 well used 13m Edge worth spending another £100 on? Might get a new kite...
