  1. Thanks for advice - three looks like the favorite number so far.... this game does NOT get any cheaper does it :0(
  2. Ok, I have been kitesurfing for around two months, had a days tuition and been out maybe ten times. Locations tend to be East coast of Scotland - Dunbar, Gullane, Portobello and an occasional visit to Troon in the West. Am getting up fine with my 12m Trio and 175 BIC board but I'm often finding there is ALMOST enough wind but not quite enough :0( So, the question is: With a view to gradually getting a 'complete' quiver but within reasonable practical limits, how many kites do I really need? I am thinking about these two options a) replacing my 12m with a 14m or thereabouts as my main kite and complimenting it with a 9m for higher winds OR b) keeping the 12m and adding a kite either side - a 16m and 9m perhaps to give me more options. What do you think? thanks Al James
  3. Thinking of spending a few days on the west coast of Scotland and considering popping over to Skye. I'm sure someone posted here not so long ago about living/kitesurfing there (?) If you are that person or if you know who that person is could you drop me a PM please. cheers Al
  4. the email address you give does not appear to work!
  5. Remember that kite you were selling about 7 months ago....... the pink/red coloured one. Is it for sale or not? I'm interested (like I was when your Benson Gemini was 'for sale') but not really wanting to wait this time! If it IS for sale can you give me/us a price and I'll let you know if I'm still in the market for it. cheers Al
  6. Second Skin will make you a suit for your specific sport which fits properly in one week. http://www.secondskinsurf.com/ Good luck.
  7. Still for sale ? if so please drop me a PM/email I may be interested. cheers Al
  8. I have a 60 Ltr. backpack (a good quality one!) in it I carry 9.5m Frenzy, 3m LD, 1.5m 'gale kite' plus tools, a lid, a harness and a stake! It does not feel too heavy as its actually designed for carying stuff about on your back, infact its v comfy. I used to have a BIG holdall thing but it was awkward. With the backpack I just have to wear it and pull my board along Good luck whatever u choose.
  9. Last year we had a kite festival at Ayr in the second week of July - it was a great success. I think Stuart from wind things did a lot of the organising so maybe contact him...... http://www.windthings.co.uk
  10. I have a suggestion - what about one in Scotland, its not as if we are short of space up here! Al
  11. Hi there....... and welcome to the forum/kite disease area, I hope to fly Sat (Burntisland )+ Sun (Gullane ) mornings this w/end. Drop me a PM if you want to arrange a meet/trip. regards Al
  12. Sounds good - I'll try the same. Thanks for your input :0)
  13. Now that I have my Frenzy, and the winds are too high to fly in, I have been using the 3m LD on handles. Decided to put it on a bar and just wondered if anyone here has advice about safety ? Should I a) just fly it on two lines and hope b) put the brake lines on the ends of the bar and feed the main lines through bar to harness c) devise some cunning cross-over thingy and see what happens d)sell kite and think of something else ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
  14. I have a Frenzy - its a fantastic kite but v expensive and probably NOT the best kite to start on. Have a look at Ozone little Devils - a 3m or 4.5m are good value for money and very stable. A cheaper option might be a Firebee in similar size. Best plan is always to fly before you buy so ask boarders in your area. good luck
  15. Ok, I have a 9.5m Frenzy and its time to start JUMPING with it. I have had a go and have found that despite a whole bunch of advice, explanations, description on 'how to", I reckon I need to actually SEE someone do it properly and what the kite does before I hurt myself! All video clips on the net seem to show the guy on a snowboard/landboard etc. doing the jump but you don't get a long shot where you get to see the kite before, during + after! This means I still don't have a clear idea of what I am trying to do....... which is a BAD thing. So, can anyone give me a link to a video clip where you get to see the whole thing? thanks Al
