I was on the phone for about 1 hour to Lytham sand yacht club last week and they say there is no sign to a end to the bann on there beach as the inquest as not been done yet. Its seems to me they are just waiting around to hear from the council, but think there is a chance that it will only be allowed in the winter months.
To be honest it did seem like they have lost all interest as they could not tell me anything about what is going on the the ban.
Lytham are not even taking on any new members as they are not sure if there will be any club left to join.
I also got the impression that they didnt really what buggiers in they,re club.
I was also on the phone to rob at wirrel sand yacht club who have sercured the beach there but only to club members (seems a bit unfair to me) but aleast they are doing something to keep this sport going.
The way i see it is we need unlimited access to the beaches at least and the chances of that seem very slim, But we have no one speaking for us so how do we stand a chance?
We need the councils to see how many kiters there is in this country.
One way to do this would be for lots (and I mean lots) of us to turn up on a beach for the day,Lets say we target the beaches with bans on them at the mo. That way the council would turn up and see just how many of us there is, maybe ring the local papers too. what could they do to us anyway?
It seems to me we need to stand up for ourselfs in this one (united we stand divided we fall) I for one am prepared to take this all the way through the courts, I will not stand by and watch my sport be trashed by councilers who have no idea what this sport is all about.
