  1. Hi have you thought about justgiving.com ? much cheaper and they get the 28% tax back on donations! Al
  2. Sorry to hear of another shop going. Wish you all the best in future ventures m8. Al
  3. as if we haven't got enough insurance problems because of fake claims or people claiming for nowt to get a few quid, we are all paying for it allready in costs and in bans.
  4. I got caught some time ago, i had a mail saying I was eligible to become a power seller, respond to find out more, DOH!! Be very careful.. Al
  5. TOM is right Team riders is a sort of job and yes you should get paid. You are there to advertise the shop and advertising costs money how ever you do it. If you are expecting a good wage or a free pile of kites then you are way off base which is probably why TAL are going about it this way, you have to be passionate about the sport or you will give the wrong impression when people meet you ZOTTY is correct if it becomes a chore then all the fun is gone so be carefull when wanting sponsorship We have an ever growing "team" of people riding in the ATB Uk championships and flying for us in various kite competitions as well as just out for fun and hopefully it does us all good, they all get certain perks including being part of a team and we get a bit of exposure. All of our team enjoy what they do and that is important, if they did'nt they wouldn't do it and we wouldn't want them to. Al:)
  6. Have been for about a year, SVO not biodiesel though. Al
  7. In the UK round here there are commercial outlets for biodiesel at about 70p litre as opposed to 95p and up for diesel. It does run cleaner and is carbon neutral (but the government are still trying to oppose people making it). Spills are not like diesel as its only 28days to break down chip fat but its still very slippy should it be spilt on hard surfaces like roads. I currently have about 1200 litres in my filter system so if I get a leak its going to be very messy :-# Al
  8. I am runing my Midi van on 50/50 used oil and diesel along with the tour bus and my old Rover 218 turbo. Starting is a bit slower but performance etc is fine, the engine definately sounds quieter due to extra lubrication. I do want to fit a second small tank for diesel to aid the winter starting, I have no other mods. As far as I am aware you cannot go to Sainsburys and buy new oil, the powers that be don't like it even if paying duty. My oil is SVO, gravity filtered recycled chip fat with no additives and I pay 21.10p a litre duty. If I had a modern car costing mucho ££ I would be thinking very hard about using it as they are far more technical than the old glow plug jobbies. hope that helps Al
  9. Why the total attendance restriction? In past years there has been little space on the flying field for everyone who flys, this year it seems everyone who attends is going to be a flyer, would this not mean even less space on the field? I have not noticed a shortage of camping space in past events, sure the tents are spreading round the outer field but thats not restricting the flying. the non flyers do not go on the field and get in the way so leaving space to fly. Al
  10. spoke to flexi.. price is flying or not because its what mod charge for field Al
  11. That will be fun for someone travelling best part of a hundred miles....
  12. MMM Have to admit I thought it was dear for a family, the numbers are restricted to reduce kites on the field as that is the insurance worry is it not? I am a flyer and £15 is not a problem but as MW has always seemed a freindly type family event i want to bring 2 kids, the wife also wants to come this year as I have always raved about when I got home, none of who will be flying but they will be spending whilst there, then it gets dear. I wont be taking more tents or anything than if I come alone. Some families are bigger than mine, ouch! I don't mind paying for my flying or for camping but I feel it could be more reasonable as the facilities are not really special, blue box loos and warm water from a bowser if its not empty. Most camp sites I have used charge per unit, X-Zone games charge per flyer. Al
  13. Hi I have a set of trelleborge 16x6.5x8 and they are 6ply:eek: that should weigh the bugger down:) excess stock £55 delivered! Al
  14. I have had a chat with some local farmers and have had a success This Sunday 20th we have been given access to a field of approx 20 acres just off the A38 nr Dursley midway between junc 13/14 off the M5. It looks pretty flat as it is on the edge of the Severn flood plains. There will be a fee but it will only be about a fiver for a day. It is flyers only so we have no public or dogs etc to fight off It is requested all access come through me on alan@gruntys.co.uk or 08456 589299 and that all flyers are insured. The first weekend is going to be a bit of a quiet factfinding mission as we have not yet flown there, but there are other fields to choose from so if at first..... Happy flying Al
  15. oi ya wel If you had a Blu Earth 351 then I am not surprised it broke, it is a kids board, same as scrub LC but with only 7 ply deck not 9. Decks are available, trampa do a range of decks, I have a BHI Fibre flex drilled for skate trucks, or find someone who has changed to trampa deck and buy their original. Al
