The reason I built my rack so that the buggy faces backward is so you can put the buggy, a large one, on the rack without an assistance. Back up your buggy to the buggy, lift axle onto support, then grab fork and lift straight up.
If you face forward, you have to lift entire buggy up at once and the turn it around to place on the rack.
