15-19 now cobs 23-26 in my yrs of using cobs i guess without being there it is around 20.......but this should be more reliable and not so prone to breakages in storms interested on your findings dave ? My guess over a suistained test cobs will read slightly over but only time will tell using averages if this will read true or slightly uner due to localisation this averages the coast there . What we aiming for is reliabilty but its a new service and keep your eyes peeled for more development -

I find cobs always reads a couple of knots over due to the wind meter being on hilbre and the wind shooting up the hills. After some early teething problems as its new what is nice about this is it should not go down as frequently as cobs. It takes an average from many resources. However as willl all forecasts and readings a little self interpration and comon sense, local knowledge and experience it should be a nice reliable resource. In the past i used to look at cobs which was always over exept in a sse then xc crosby area which was always under as its behind the dune then take an ave However in all my years down there there are always surprises and thos who follow regular weather have our own formulas we develop to create our own madcap forecasts and estimates hehehehe ;) -

Lessons have finished for the winter season, but don't worry we will be back up and running on April 1 for spring. Although you will see guys out kitesurfing all winter it is a whole different thing kiteing on top of the water and being inside the water trying to learn, once you are too cold your brain shuts down and so does your learning capacity. We are however running lessons from Boracay Philippines for the winter so if anyone is interested in a winter escape contact Melvyn through the website he can arrange courses and accomodation for you, also airport transfers, kite-surfaris and advice on flights. Scotty however will be around most of the winter so if you need anything UK based dont hesitate to conact him through the web site. Vegas rocks paulo u coming for a visit?

Wirral kitesurfing rigging and kite zones ........
airforce replied to airforce's topic in General Kiting
also forgot to say buggying and landboarding has to be done at meols or dips for land boarders, buggying through wirral landyachting club, all this can be checked with senior costal ranger Jo Hanik at leasowe lighthouse......super cool guy if u have any quieries about the reasons for this he will be more than happy to explain the reasons why and i know some of the landboarders were confused as to why.It down to Mainly dog walkers and beach traffic. If u have other ideas to expand your locations he will be proactive in opening further suiatable zones for you.The ranger here is very supportive of the kite community, but there are over 200 beach user groups he has to consider. -
Hi guys a few people were a little confused down the beach as to the zones it has been in the coastal news from wirral council and we list the rigging zones on our site i have updated it with the basic guides for kitesurfing at New Brighton and West Kirby. We do work quite hard to keep these zones as open and as vauge as possible.Ourselves and the ranger are fairly anti zoneing. Most of them are common sense stay away from public anything hard keep out of the way of the lifeboat launch marked by a yellow bouy at derby pool lifeguard tower.Stay away from big rock sea defences at leasowe bay(doh they hard but also landing zone for birds on the way to hilbre island)Respect bird zones at west kirby some of the rarest roosting birds in europe use hilbre island we are very lucky they allow us to kite there so lets not spoil it for everyone.there is a link to our locations page with rigging zones and recommended safe distances.Lets keep this area self policed and free from restrictions. There are a lot of beginers end of every summer if they look lost guys lets polietly inform them of the dangers. There is only so much we can do we have all seen in the past the things that can happen so lets all work together to keep it as cool and laid back as it is down there now....... airforcekitesurfing.com/locations.html

looks like no wind this weekend guys.......but tuesday and wendnesday looking good and supposed to be carrying on the rest of the week turned out a good August so far long may it continue............... Anyone out sailing in the week? come join the unemployed kitesurfing club numbers growing by the week with the economic climate @ the min......... Welcome to the Frontpage
-
yeah the site shows the rigging zones this is what needs to be stuck to strictly we work very hard with the rangers to keep access as open as poss.....basically beyond the rigging zones it is open anywhere between the lifegaurd tower and leasowe lighthouse.......there are no kites allowed within 100 yrds of sea wall.....not past the yellow bouy at the life guard station at the derby pool as this is the launch for the life boats......not within 100 yrds radius of the rocks at leasowe bay as this is landing for roosting birds at hilbre......the council are keen to avoid massive zoneing like at other beaches if we can all work together and pass this info on politely to new comers we can keep it this way.........also due to dog walkers and beach use buggying and landboarding is not allowed....buggying has to be through the land yaghting club and landboarding either at meols or in the dips..........the reasons are buggies are moving fast down the beach with no brakes and the council want to be sure they insured.......landboarding at meols as it is far less busy with traffic....most of the rules are common sense basically keep away from anything hard and respect other beach users Welcome to the Frontpage

5knts...6knts.....8knts...9knts...10knts..... back to 9knts............is that sea breeze coming????
-
Welcome to the Frontpage Hi man wirral borough councils restrictions on landboarding is it can be done at Meols beach and the dips.......not sure about hoyalake but landboarding and buggying are not allowed at the Derby Pool......or West Kirby.........The buggying has to be done through the land Yaghting club.......the main reason for this is the speeds buggies can be reached on the beaches with no brakes and the dangers to other beach users, they want to be 100% sure all the necassary insurances are in place.....also remeber as it has been published officially by the council if you are outside the kite zones all your insurance is invalid and you are personally liable for any compensations for 3rd party injuries........If you are unsure about anything contact senior ranger jo henik at leasowe lighthouse.....he is very pro supporting the kite community and wants the beaches to be open and as few restriction as poss, however if we do not act responsible and follow guide lines we all know we will end up with the horrible restrictions as so many other beaches so lets keep it sweet for us here.........jo is a real nice guy more than willing to listen to any concerns the landboarders or buggy boys have so contact him if there anythink u guys think can help keep things good for u and safe for everyone else on the beach...........as kitesurfers we approached him with a proposal of best areas for us i.e sand bars to protect novice riders in the water, risk assesments etc.....and he has been massively supportive of us.......cheers you can contact us through are website i can try help u as much as i know regarding zones.

Welcome to the Frontpage totally aggree we have one of the best flat water playgrounds on the wirral here.Airforce is the only kiteschool licenced and insured to teach on the wirral. We have a lot of dealing with the senior ranger Jo Henik he is mega supportive of the kite community but it only takes a few irresponisible people to leave us with loads of restrictions. The council here rely on local riders passing on info, the rangers have all the sailing zones, they are also posted on our web site,if you are still unsure dont hesitate to call us on 07886849396 we are more than happy to provide u with all the relevant info for all the wirrals kite locations.Lets act responsibly and keep these locations as open to us as they are now remeber there are many beach user who all need access to our coast line
