  1. Well I am due home this week so as soon as the conditions are right I shall get down there. I took out insurance while I have been offshore so hopefully there should be a policy waiting for me in the mail when I get home and I can let you have the details. Once I have done that what do I say if some one pulls me with the old "you can't do that here!"
  2. That would be great, I will be home in about three weeks. Any recommendations for insurance?
  3. Thanks for that Playboy, have been researching the Turbo bar and think I will try one out when I get back from work (one month) didn't bother with the Blade in the end. Kiteboysi, I have often thought it would be great to buggy down by the golf course on Hayling when the tide was out but thought that was the domain of the kitesurfing club where you had to be a member to play, is this not the case then?

  5. Thanks for that bud, may just hold fire on the blade and concentrate on getting to grips with the Montana.
  6. Hard to say really as I have not invested in a meter, but I would say less than 10 mph. Just seems very slow and unresponsive compared to the flow and just wants to fly straight above my head then collapse, very frustrating. I'm sure ill get the hang of it. So would you say the blade would put me well out of my depth then?
  7. With the above in mind how do you think I would fare with a Blade v 6.5 for light wind days as there is one i am watching on ebay?
  8. Thank you, I have been messing around with the kites for a while now and have had a few trips out on a land board. The kite in the vid is an Ozone Flow 4m , I also have a HQ Montana 9.5 de power but I have not managed to get on that well with it yet, not sure if I am trying to fly it in too lighter winds or what. I shall keep trying and if I have no luck then I will buy a larger fixed bridal kite. I was looking at these turbo bars and wondering what they are like. Biggest problem down here is finding places with clean win to fly in as all the beaches seem to be a no no
  9. Quick video of me first go in a buggy at port Solent last week, hooked.com
  10. hi bash, i would be interested in your 9.5 if you still have it
  11. 12.5 i should add
  12. just been offered one of these brand new for what seems reasonable money. I have been flying fixed bridle for a while and want to get a depower, is this a good option, is it ok for buggying as well? TA
  13. nuff said, thanks for that bud
  14. hello, i've been playing with fixed bridle kites for a while but ulltimately want to go depower. THERE is a sabre ii 12.5 on ebay at the moment the current price is £149. Are these any good and what kind of money is fair to pay if its in good nick. cheers betty

  16. ha ha,just read the 'Just bought my first kite' thread (well most of it) and can now hear the eyes rolling and tuts from here. Just thought i'd add that i am again looking at lessons at witterings and Southampton kitesurf centre. Hopefully i can get fitted in next time home when there is some wind but till now doing that to fit in with my leave has been a mare. I'm not as was described on said thread a deluded e bayer. i Still think that a two day course is very little and will want to practice with my landboard and a kite that can be used on water so if anyone can throw some kite advice my way, (i am 75kg) i'd be much obliged.
  17. just been offered an Ozone frenzy 04 12m complete incl harness. £299 Any good?
  18. Hello all. i have been windsurfing for a few years now and have decided i would like to defect. I work at sea and do a month on month off and have tried twice to get lessons. Once in poole and the other at witterings. Both times the wind packed up in day one so i never got passed body dragging. So i went back to windsurfing thinking it was to much agro trying to get the knowlage and a little to risky to self teach as i did with the windsurfing. However now i have been playing with my daughters fixed bridle kite 2.4m and a landboard where i figured i could self teach in a safer enviroment and then crossover as gettin lessons to coincide with wind is a nightmare. So now i'm ready for a decent sized kite but don't want to spend loadsa money on foil depower kites only to have to splash out (see what i did there?) again on inflatable kites in order to take to the water which is obviously the goal. Do i have to bite the bullet or can i continue to landboard using a kite that can then be taken on the water once i feel i have cracked the land board completely. Cheers Betty
  19. so if i stick with a fixed bridle then tell me, whats the point of the bars on a fixed bridal if the handles give you so much control why would anyone use a bar on a fixed? I'm still not convinced not to gamble on the big kite being depower, i was pretty pleased with my progress on tthe board so far and don't want to spend too much money on gear that i 'hope' to outgrow very quickly. Hope this doesn't sound like i think i'm better than i am.
  20. hello all, i've been learning down at port solent in portsmouth, anyone else on here fly down there? what are the alternatives? What about west witterings, can you just turn up at low tide or do you have to be a member? Be nice to hook up with some one more learned than myself for a few pointers. cheers betty
  21. thanks a lot for that, very helpful. You are right though, i'm already hankering after a jazzier board ..... all the gear and no idea ha ha
  22. thanks for that, Yes the sting was really for my daughter who is doing really well but bein as i'm the biggest kid in the sweet shop it was inevitable that i would end up playing too! I have a healthy understanding and respect for the wind as a windsurfer but this looks like too much fun not to be involved in! S o far i have only played inland at port solent so not so 'clean' but soon will have a play down on the coast at west wittering if they allow you to just pay and play! So to sum up, a bigger kite, slowly slowly, what about these handles? whats the next step? oh yes, budget. well i've got too many hobbies now and something will have to give soon but i'm fairly flexible on budget but don't tell the wife i said that!
  23. well? have you been again ? How dit go? I am of similar proportions and am looking for my next step so will follow your progress with interest!
  24. Hello, noobie time i'm affraid. i.ve been messing around with kites with my 10 year old daughter for a year and recently bought a 2.4 sting to learn a bit on. after a few sessions flying that i got a cheap land board (blue earth i think it is called) i've now had a few sessions with this using handles and got on pretty well although struggled to stay upwind, whenever i tried to go across the wind i just lost power and had to go more down wind to get some momentum. thought this could be down to not carving hard enough or the kite being to small (i am 74 kg) Anyway i want to get a larger kite now and wonder when it is time to get onto a bar and harness as apposed to the handles, what should the next steps be and what would you reccomend?
