  1. Bit of a typo there dude. Thats a Beamer III 3M in the pics, not a 4M. Still a sweet kite for learning on
  2. Thanks for the advice and offers I would gladly have a Frenzy also. I didn't mention them because they have already been well covered in threads. Montanas don't tend to crop up often, hence the question. In fact parksy, I'd love to put an offer in for the FX you have advertised, but it's out of my price range unless I sell my blade or flow. (Ain't gonna happen) As for budget, I have an absolute top end of £300, so would expect to sort something fairly decent. I'm 11.5stone and do a mixture of beach and inland grass. I guess I'm looking for a 9M or 10M foil to progress from the fixed bridles I currently have. Wenglish - Cheers for the demo offer, very kind of you. I'll drop you a pm if I can wangle a trip across the bridge this weekend or some other time soon
  3. After putting off the inevitable for far too long, I want to take the plunge and enter the world of depower. I have already read some of the related threads in this section with good advice on suitable kites and sizes for first depower landboarding, and amongst my considerations is the HQ Montana. Now usually newer is better, but my budget is nowhere near half a grand plus, so are there any issues with the mk1 or mk2 Montanas? I don’t mind a scruffier kite that is a bit less responsive, but don't want to buy something that, for example, lacks a decent safety system.
  4. Thanks for the link tsp13. I had already talked to a very helpful guy at ATBshop, and he also recommended the khiro as a bullet proof alternative for scrub trucks.
  5. Okay, I've just stripped my board for a clean up and spot of grease, and noticed that the pivot cups are worn through to the point that both have large holes in them. I must have been grinding metal on metal, for a while and to be honest, I reckon that there is only about 70% of the rubber left !!!! New ones are on order, but I just thought I'd publicly hang my head in shame as I haven't posted in a while.

    Stopping

Funnily enough I used own a 5.6 Twister, but recently sold it to a chap based in Newbury. Small world ehh Already loads of good advice in the leaning back and sending the kite back up. I'm working on my posture also as I'm still too upright. Look at the angle of dangle on plummets avatar That kite will be really slow compared to a 2.5m , but it has loads of grunt to just park in one place and bomb along. Dont dip it too low and you won't go as fast.
  7. I have watched several 4.9 biv's complete on the bay recently, and that seems the going rate. Yours is described as mint condition with extreme lines, so it sounds good.
  8. Thanks Afro, yep – that looks like what my board started to do. Fortunately without the dramatic ending. I guess the wind picked up and pulled me forwards directly over board to initiate the wobble. Chrisp Once the old sphinc started twitching, I managed to heel edge the board upwind and zenithed the kite to stop, so pretty much what you recommend. I’ll see if I can crank up the trucks a bit. Cheers guys
  9. I'm starting to get the hang of cruising up n down on my board now. Yesterday I got a bit fast, and the board went a bit weird under my feet. Basically it felt like it rocked heel toe heel toe making a small yet fairly rapid weaving motion underneath me. Not sure if this is the speed wobble that people talk about, or just a loss of balance. I know I was losing balance at one point but can't say if this caused the weaving, or was a result of it. It is a Scrub Ejector board (fairly old but hardly ever used) skate trucks. Should I loosen or tighten the trucks? Would I need to upgrade the trucks? Or could the rubbers need replacing. Or should I just learn to ride the flipping thing a bit better? Any advice appreciated.
  10. last bumps before it goes on the 'bay'
