  1. Hold on to your hats, looks like a cracker weekend's upon us (: (: (: Saturday: 26 degrees, 10-15 knots, due south all weekend, .29 tides 4:40pm. 8:22pm sunset with an 8:06pm full moon rising! Sunday: Much the same (: So who's in? (or should I ask who could possibly resist )
  2. It isn't the cough that carries you off, it's the coffin they carry you off in - not exactly sure what it's meant to mean, but it sounds good, and intelligent :yes3:
  3. It is a great shot! Pitty there not accepting submissions for that kite calender anymore.
  4. And great photo's Mick I just adjusted the "levels" a little in that close up photo of me to bring out the detail a bit more. By the way, if anyone's wondering those goggles I'm wearing are the Zeal/Transcend GPS goggles I have. Also, it anyone is wondering, they are FRICKIN AWESOME!!!
  5. It was really nice. Good solid winds and lovely sunny sky's. It was just Mick and I (and family) who camped over but Phill and Annie (and possibly others) came down in the idealistic conditions the next day for a spot of kite surfing. The wind was a little more easterly than would have been ideal for buggies but it was perfect for kite surfing. As for buggying we did a few down winders from the mouth to the car park then towed back. Max speed I got on the down winders was 50km/h, averaging about 30. Took us 18 minutes too get from the mouth to the car park and was a really lovely, effortless ride the whole way.
  6. Winds are due east at the moment and only going to turn further away throughout the day/weekend. I'm thinking I might leave the bike and buggy at home and just ride down in the car to go camping. I'll through a couple of kites in the car but don't think I'll worry about the bug. If it turns out the beach is working fling us a TXT and I might be persuaded to leap on the bike after all All the best, 0466 643 966
  7. Cool. We'll probably be a little later. I'll take a couple of UHF radios as well, set to channel, ummm, 3! How will we identify you?
  8. Yeah sorry about that. What can I say, I'm dyslexic and MS Paint doesn't have a spell checker
  9. Haven't arranged to meet up with anyone but if you guys are up for it I'd be glad to We're not really sure what time we'll be able to make it though, or what the kiting will be like. Colondee (My partner) is working Saturday but has put in to get off early so we'll be heading down as soon as she gets off -kind of expecting to get there mid to late afternoon. Will you guys be on the land or in the water? We'll be driving a dark red 4-door Wrangler with Tasmanian Plates:
  10. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=13762&hilit=traces+of+nuts#p109763 It's not particularly "Kingston-esk" but I'm sure with a little tweaking we could make it so
  11. Wowzers, 100kgs. You weren't kidding when you said it was solid! (I know that includes the pallet too but that's still quite a whack of steel you got there )
  12. Let us know when you here (Adelaide) I'll be sure to invite my self out for a test run - I mean you out for a session
  13. I'm definitely interested! I've tried looking up Blokarts in Broome before but couldn't find much. There is one post on SeaBreeze asking about it and I messaged the guy asking how we got on but never had a response. From what I understand it's a lovely beach but is often closed due to crocodiles or jellyfish or something. My father is living in Broome these days and he was telling me about it. It kills him when the beach is closed but what ever closes it it shouldn't be a problem for buggies but you may have to resist the urge to go for a dip I've been toying with the idea of doing a very similar run Kingston SE to Goolwa (170km in total) and I was largely leading a spirited discussion about crossing the Simpson on here a little while back. My plans have kind of stalled waiting for the dammed Sysmics but if your interested in chewing through the details it can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=14778 Anyway, I'm keenly interested so do please let us know of any developments. By the way, shipping buggies to Broome - not so cheep.
  14. Good luck Clive. Looks like a good buy, I may well regret letting this one slip through my fingers. By the way, I don't think I was the "Someone else" mentioned above. Edit: FYI, the fine print on the e-go website says: So you may well be able to get by without a fork.
  15. Hehe, "sphinter meter". My trousers (nearly) said the same
  16. Had a very similar experience my first Kingston trip. I was in a PL Mk-I with one Balloon tyre on the front and two small wheels on the back (absolutely horrible bug to ride by the way) hanging onto a 'ski' rope doing about 80km/h bouncing over seaweed and what not, scarcely being able to keep my feet on the pegs, only to arrive back at camp and have Terry tell me "it was more like 40"
  17. Yeah, the wind strength looks perfect but us poor buggyers are very particular about direction. Basically if it's not due south the beach doesn't work for us (or at least the untalented amongst us ) It looks like there is a high pressure cell predicted to drift across the bite passing to the south. It's this high that will bring the sotherlies on shore mid-week and turn them SE by the weekend. With any luck the cell may take longer to cross (bushing the southerlies back till the weekend) or it may travel further north than predicted. You can play around with the forecast here. We'll be heading down Saturday, driving back Sunday.
  18. Hehe, was just looking up your history AliNev. First post in 2009, then an average of 1 per year after that Note: One of those posts was of a kite buggy T-shirt you have from 1996! - that's some serious kudos (And here I was thinking you were a 4-poster n00b )
  19. This coming weekend :) We're planning to set off from Adelaide early to mid afternoon and camp the night down at the mouth. You'd be most welcome to join us (for either the kiting or camping). At this stage winds are not looking so good, tides are static but low and we'll have a waxing quarter moon. Unfortunately it's not looking like the best weekend for either kiting or fishing but were keen to camp regardless as we just bought ourselves a new Jeep and love taking it places . I'll keep an eye on it through out the week and update as appropriate. All the best, Slarti.
  20. If there the same as the wheels I have they have "tapered roller bearings" and require an "axle stub" to sync with. Perhaps Gav has "Holden to 20mm" bearings but I wasn't able to find such things myself. Also my wheels are actually held on by a "nut" (rather than a "bolt") but it's kind of hard to make out what Gav has from the photo.
  21. They're good looking wheels in that first pic. In fact I think I have the exact same wheels How do you attach them to the axle?
  22. Dude. You're in Canada and won't ship to Australia.
  23. Looks like I misunderstood ): It seems supplying wheels will only save you $300.
  24. Wowzers! That is spectacular! Were planning to test out new 4x4 out and go camp down there in a couple of weekends time. Reckon I'll have to pack my R/C glider and record some footage
  25. Okay, just heard back from Jas. If I understand correctly I'll save a little over $500 getting a wheel-less S1 (meaning it will cost $450 + shipping to use your bug in the interim) so I reckon were onto a deal! I'll send you a PM to work out the particulars.
