  2. Funky Cold Medina
  3. Nice one. First prize to Kiteboyza. You win an all expenses paid trip to .........
  4. Well boys and girls - what do you reckon on this one then. Unfortunately couldn't play on this following a broken knee last year, but next time I'm over there its going to be the first thing I do. First prize goes to the first correct identification of the beach. Its in africa if that helps. Anyone been buggying / boarding here?
  5. not unusual to not remember I reckon. I broke my knee 7 months ago on a board on a chilled day on 7m and still don't remeber what happened. I didn' t bang my head or have any other injury other than my leg. Think its just the speed of the situation rather than shock or anything like that. problem is you can't remebr what you did so that yo can avoid the same mistake...............
  6. Cheers for the comments all. Doing the excercises! Maybe we should start a x-rays and scars thread. Seems a lot of peeps have "taken one" for our beloved sport. Bugger the pimped board thread, how about the pimped joints thread.......
  7. Haha. Nothing like a bit of retail theraphy to help the healing process....
  8. Whadda ya reckon. Would you go boarding with this in your knee when its healed. Or am I being stupid. So worried that flying days are over....
  9. Was on a 7m Sabre, so pretty innocuous given the wind. It was barely lifting me. Was cruising along. Dropped the kite into the power again and then found myself dragging along with a sore leg.... Absolutly gutted for the summer, was looking foward to some good sessions. Think the wifey will ban me from anything board like. But s'pose thats what buggies were invented for....
  10. Hey all. Went out for an hour last monday before work started and got picked up by a gust and landed on my knee. End result I have fractured my tibia and also the plateau in my knee joint. Now have plates and pins in the knee, one monster "chick pulling" scar and 3 months with no weight on my leg allowed and a significant chance of arthritus in the knee later on. Anyone done this and how did you get on? Reckon my boarding days are over. Maybe time to buy a buggy? Had knee pads on and luckily have no other injures, not even a scratch. Big lesson though. Always wear a helmet. I wasn't as the wind wasn't that strong, but having seen what can be done to a leg bone, your nut doesn't have a chance. And also, always carry on phone on you. I was out on my own in the park and was able to call for an ambulance, but no help from the public, not that I asked, but having a phone on me saved the day. Keep safe peeps.
  11. Who's flying the kite on Blackheath?. Clue- bottom left of the common
  12. Congrats Mate. Seems its been a baby week. I made one last week on the 19th Jan. Her initials are S.L.E....slipped that one past the wifey. Do you think a big buzz is too soon? Hope you are getting some sleep.
  13. Whoo hoo! the complete underdogs of the African cup of Nations, Malawi opened up a whole can of whupass over Algeria this arvo. 3-0 We never win anything........ A little bit of fairy dust is being sprinkled on the tournment I think.
  14. just to clarify the beach gets busy with sun worshippers / windsurfers and kiters - not though the general area around porto pollo.
  15. sardinia. Porto pollo - north end of the island. Theres a couple of kite schools and hire shops. Very chilled. The Mistral rips through the bay so you have a cros on shore which is great. Number of camping spots very close to the beach or apartments / hotels nearby. Cheap as chips or blow the budget -something for everyone. Flights are cheap aswell. I got a hire car in with the deal which you will need. Gets quite busy. Lots of continentals. Ze Germans and italians which makes a pleasant change from the usual med spots overrun by the brits. don't expect to go for a big party - theres not a lot to do except eat at the top of the island. It is very pretty though and joyfully quiet if thats what you like.
  16. Cheers Afro I thought about a new bar. thats 270 squids though and the one that I have is in resonable nick. Cheers for the info though. Thats made some more sense to the whole thing. Think I'll pimp my lines.......
  17. Anyone have a 5th line conversion for a hadlow pro? Just brought a cheap one (7m) and its set up on a 4 line. I need to be a little sensible here and change it back but can't find any sets anywhere - even on Flexi. Could really do with changing all the lines just to be sure.... Any advice on a modification if I can't find any? I'm assuming that as long as I maintain the line strengths I could follow the instruction on the manual and build it backwards. Has anyone done this before? Cheers for any advice.. (Yes its for land and yes I know that its not ideal for land and yes I am going to be careful..... but bejesus its a nice kite)
  18. I agree. The guy ran his own business so he's not stupid or easliy led. Similar issues with the aspegers guy being extradited to the US. he knew what he was doing yet his defense hids behind a mental illness. I'm not saying that this guy in China wasn't ill- ,it would have to be severe lack of capcity and mental capabilities to (unwittingly) take 4 kgs of anything into another country for someone else. He's obviously traveled and would have been aware of this. Its naieve to think he wasn't. this is very un empathetic but personal responsibility rules. We have to be responsible for our actions when kiting - its would be absurd to claim we aren't so why the willingness to excuse this guy for doing something blatantly dodgy. It's amazing in the UK, how the death penalty / high profile overseas incarceration promotes huge sentimentality clouding judgement. The easiest and seemingly common defense is the lack of mental capacity. I was born and lived in southern Africa - you play by the rules or you leave. thats how the rest of the world outside europe works and its obnoxious to demand that they change their rules because Gordy and pressure groups say so, particualry when one of your kind breaks their law. When in Rome.......
  19. The coverage of the 2nd test in Durban. Thats the saddest film ever. No rain and crap batting all point to an emotional disater ridden plot that all ends in tears. Bugger..

Any preference to BPKA or BKSA with regards to insurance? Pretty much same old isnt it? I'm assuming that you get insured just by virtue of becomming a member or is it not that simple....
