  1. I'm good mate, nice to see you might be getting back on the water soon, need someone to talk to on the beach when I get back on the water. Take it you're on the same phone number as last time I spoke to you? Will give you a bell next week or something when I get back from Worcester. Will be good to catch up!
  2. STEVE! How are you?! Been meaning to catch up with you for months but been a bit useless of recent. Hope you're well mate.
  3. I'm good thanks Perry, been a while since i've been on here so thought i'd pop in for a look around. Working too hard atm but hopefully get some time on the water from May once the rugby season is over and the sea gets a bit warmer. Fingers crossed i haven't forgotten how to do it!
  4. I've got 18V DeWalt for most of my kit and it's all anywhere from 3-5 years old, has taken plenty of abuse and is still going strong. My only complaint about it is it's a bit heavy due to the Nickel Cadmium batteries and the tools themselves are a bit bulky. I've also got 10.8V Bosch impact drive, screwdriver and 36V SDS. These are good bits of kit too but I find the 10.8V stuff is a little underpowered and (all) the Lithium Ion batteries hate the cold. If it's a cold day and the tools have been stored in the van overnight you can forget about using it until the batteries have been warmed up or atleast charged. I have recently bought myself a Milwaukee 12V multitool which I couldn't be without now. Amazing piece of kit in power and battery life plus Milwaukee have engineered their batteries to work in cold weather so no worries about flat batteries on winter mornings. The 12V gear is surprisingly powerful too, I played with some of it at Toolfair last year and was amazed when I put a 8mm drill bit in to a concrete curb stone with a tiny combi drill that weighed next to nothing. The tools come with a 3 year guarantee and the Red Lithium batteries 2 year (if registered online). I'm looking to buy a 12V impact driver and drill before the end of this financial year to replace the 10.8V Bosch and will likely do the same with my 18V combi when the time comes. Anglia tool centre are doing a 18V combi and impact drive kit with 3 batteries for £400 at the minute too. Milwaukee 18V kit

    Like it!
  6. Bump and shout for a good guy. He knows how to look after his gear and it's all in good nick! Best of luck with the sale Steve, will give you a bell this week at some point to see how life's treating you.
  7. Full to the brim and bung it on the card is the way forward! £107 for the van and another £70 for the car! Going through roughly 2.5k a year in fuel on the business alone!

  9. Bought most of my gear second hand and parted with best part of £1300 all in. Reckon you can do it cheaper but i didn't want too much old tat that would hinder progress. The two kites and board cost me nearly a grand and the wetsuit, harness, etc took up the rest of that money.
  10. Think i'm gonna take the day off and head over tomorrow too, probably late morning to follow the tide in.
  11. Where's best on a south westerly again?
  12. Just out of intest how long does it take you to pump it up? I'm interested but I'm a long way from you and am looking to upgrade to 2011 Catalysts this year so not entirely sure if I could afford it. Realisticly what would you say the wind range for a 10.5stone fella on a 132x42 board would be?
  13. Awesome kites, got two and very pleased with them. Good price as well, you sure about it being 3knots though?! Maybe if you worked it really hard but the 12 only gets fun from 15knots though usable in a little less.
  14. I would say the Blurr is atleast as stable as the Rage if not more so. I've got both a 2.5 Rage and 3.5 Blurr and I would class the Blurr as being my favourite kite by far. I think the main difference you'll notice will be in the speed of the kite through the window and the greater acceleration you'll get compared to the Rage.

Apple historically bring out new models on an annual basis so why the hell would they suddenly change that and bring out a new model after 3 months. Think you're getting confused with HTC there. If you like iPhones buy an iPhone, if you want something that does all the same things but slightly differently and with more ways to customise your user experience buy an HTC. Nothing has been announced about the new iPhone yet anyway but you can pretty much guarantee it'll be a bit faster with some other tweaks and a new iOS. I've got an iPhone 4 atm and am perfectly happy with it but they are expensive so I'm glad I could buy it on the business and claim the cost back against my tax. I'll probably buy the 6 when it comes out as that's when my contract will be due for renewal and I'm fairly sure I won't regret it as I'm happy with the iPhone experience so far, even sorted the lack of Flash video thanks to an app so I can't even grumble about that.
  16. They were talking about it on the Jeremy Vine Show on Radio 2 yesterday which made very interesting listening as they had a professor of physics on giving out the facts as best he could based on what information was coming out of Japan. I'm fairly sure it'll be on iPlayer if you're interested and there was a number of references to Chernobyl. One of the things that they covered was the problems of radioactive Iodine which would be present in the event of a full meltdown. Fortunately (i use this word loosely when you consider the scale of such a disaster) Iodine has a very short half life so it would take something like 37 days to reach a point where the radioactivity is virtually undetectable. The other thing i gather is that the safeties initially worked perfectly. When the quake hit the core was shut down automatically however the problem was the tidal wave. The water flooded the back up diesel pumps/generators used to run the cooling system hence the reason why things are now getting so hot.
  17. Just come across this through a mates Facebook page. Utterly hilarious and ultimately for a good cause! >>>EBAY LINKY
  18. Bran was great for the first couple of hours yesterday morning. Got there around half 10 and it was 20knots+ with the biggest gusts at the time hitting 31! Was a good laugh on an 8m but soon dropped off after lunch which wasn't predicted. Worth the journey for a good hour of well powered kiting. Just need to get better at it to enjoy the conditions a bit more. Thanks to the guy on the Naish who saved my board, ended up a long way down wind of it after accidentally looping my kite after i screwed up a turn!
  19. Where are people heading tomorrow? Looking to get to the coast round 11 so just need to know which bit will be best.
  20. When you unscrew the second part of the plate from the wall you should see three terminals. You want to connect the orange and white incoming wires to the A and B terminals. Don't think it's polarity dependant but i'm fairly sure the norm is to connect orange to A and white to B. The internal wiring is then connected to the front plate (the first bit that you remove). You only need three wires connected to the front plate to terminals 2, 3 and 5. Blue White to 2, Orange White to 3 and White Blue to 5. Make sure you use a proper displacement tool to carry out this part otherwise the connection won't be good enough. I'm assuming you have filters on every phone connected to the line? If not this will cause the drop out issues you are having. If you have further problems you can get BT to test the line for free. They'll make you disconnect everything on the house side by removing the front plate but atleast that will prove if the problem is on their side of the network or yours. Try all the above first before calling BT out as they will charge through the nose for the service. IMO i would guess you've either got too many things plugged in to your phone system or you haven't got a filter on one or more phones connected to the line. For reference i'm a sparky but i do have a fair bit of experience with phone lines and if i'm not sure about anything my old man used to be a telecoms engineer for BT for over 20 years! Let us know how it goes.
  21. I've got a O'Neill Psycho 2 5:3 wetty, it's incredibly stretchy so doesn't feel restrictive and fits lovely. They are pricey but i haven't been cold once. I must admit on days where it has been just below freezing i was also wearing a O'Neill Thermo X rash vest, some KooGa thermal rugby shorts (they're like cycling shorts but made of neoprene, can't find a link though unfortunately) and a Mystic Windcheater. I tend to feel the cold really badly but after 3hrs on the water with it being -1 with the wind chill i didn't shiver once! The Windcheater is especially useful when you're standing around on the beach as the wind soon cuts through a damp wetsuit and you're body will cool very quickly.
  22. Yep, sounds like it would be an interesting read.
  23. This the sort of thing you're looking for. No idea if the boards are any good but they're definitely personalised.
  24. I'm not sure about this proposal. I find it hard enough getting up in the mornings to do a days work when it's still dark at 7am so i hate to think what it'll be like if it's still not light at 9am! However, on the flip side it would be nice to have a few hours of daylight that aren't consumed by work on a Monday to Friday. Even then i'm that far from any beaches that if i did make the trip for a kiting session, by the time i've finished work it would already be dark when i get there. Keep it as it is i think!
  25. Thinking about upgrading my board and buying a new one now that I'm getting a bit more confident. Just wandering what people think about the Juice Evolution and Widebody. The price has taken my eye and if what they say is true they should be good all round boards. I've looked through an old thread about them but not many people had tried them out back then so hopefully there'll be a bit more feedback floating around now. Anyone know where I can demo one too. Usually flying out of Hunstanton but do tend to travel around a lot. Mostly getting out in flat water and light chop.
