  1. I would look at glenshee as well, if you hike up onto the glas maol plateau at the top there is a much bigger area than at the lecht - but i would go with some one as well as it is a fair way from anywhere....
  2. Dry the col de Lauteret right next to it, awesome for snow kiting. and well set up for it too.
  3. Blueshade, So you go up the lecht yesterday? i had to work in the morning, but after work i wen tup glenshee, didn't take kites as there was not wind about, but i reckon the plateau of Glas moal is a better bet than the lecht for some kiting action. pic from yesterday to show the snow. http://www.smuffandrooney.co.uk/d/3361-1/IMG_1327.jpg there was no wind though. but i am watching it all the time.... it will be mine!!!!
  4. would you think of a deal with exchanging it for an ozone frenxy 10m? PM me if you are interested. Cheers Dave
  5. and http://www.smuffandrooney.co.uk/d/2501-1/DSC_0075.jpg
  6. It can be really good though, but it is one of those \2if it is good you have to get to it straight away!" type things http://www.smuffandrooney.co.uk/d/2474-2/DSC_0015.jpg
  7. Hi Katch, I will be in that area as well next winter from february onwards. Will have to meet up for some kiting over there. I am rather excited for it! Cheers Dave
  8. I think the colour is great! http://www.smuffandrooney.co.uk/d/2248-2/DSC_0123.jpg
  9. Worht noting that these are not built for jumping..... not to say i haven't jumped with it - but they are not designed and warn against it...... still love mine, very comfortable and light.
  10. i have an 07 10m in that colour, is great.
  11. deadman is a good idea. i have one, will take that. i was not keen on taking my skies off. and digging bar in snow might work, but there is a lot of soft un consolidated powder in norway at present, will go out there and play around and see what i can get to work. there is two of us so shouldn't be a problem, but i was trying to work out the worst case if i was by myself and i needed to anchor the kite. i think deadman is the answer. cheers all Dave
  12. So once you are setting the kite up, one can load the back edge of the kite with snow. but once you are flying it and say you had to pull one of the emergency 'oh f*ck' devises on the kite, what do you anchor it with then? presuming sift snow. do people take skies / board off and use that until you have been over to the kite and laid snwo on the back edge again? people carry ice axes? can't see that happening. off to norway in a week and was wondering about this. Any other useful bits of advice for snow kiting as it will be my first time. cheers dave.
  13. a couple of their shops have been closing down / been bought out. not sure but think there on in the sh*t with the bank manager
  14. I will be keen as well if we get a good layering to go anywhere. Am farily new to this and am trying to find people to go and play with, so if you are going out can i please come along (i am not trouble, only eats a little and i leave no mess behind) Cheers Dave
  15. have been thinking baout it, and i makes sense if i have no speed then it is a bit like flying it static and the kite will move across the window. am excited now to go out and try it! Cheers all.
  16. OOk that makes sense, as i was turning hard as soon as i started moving. Will give it a go as soon as i can get out again. might start tryign to ktie at night as there is jus tnot enough time at the weekends! Cheers Dave
  17. Right then. sitting tight. i will begin Kite above me, feet in board, wind behind me. bring kite (6M Access II) to about 10o'clock and turn it as tight as i can usually with power in to turn quicker so that i draw a kind of 's' in the sky with it. as soon as i start moving i turn as hard as i can so that i am going parallel to kite / wind. but by this point the kite is at the edge of the window and one of the tips folds in. i have to then bring it back up to the top and re start. what am i doing wrong? Cheers Dave
  18. I am keeen when ever there is a good patch of weather to take day off work and head for the hills, Glas Moal would be good on the top for kiting. Will watch the forecasts, and will post on here if anyone is keen. Based in aberdeen so happy to pick up any one who is interested if it is on the way. Cheers Dave
  19. I went ski touring yesterday up at aviemore, toook my 6m ascces 2 up onto the caringorm plateau. Not a drop of wind, also the plateau is pretty badly wind scowered from teh high winds last week, rocks everywhere. So would be no good anyway up there. Was raining / snowing hard all last night in the ski center car park (slept in van) and came home this morning as the weather was rubbish. Anyone up for a mid week session i am keen if conditions are right, happy to take time off work. Brilliant day ski touring though will post pics later
  20. Hello there, Anyone around tomorrow, will be first time there, pretty much a newbie at this sport, but am keen! If you are come say hello, blue jacket, white helemyt and a 6m OZone access II (blue grey and pink) Cheers Dave
  21. aaahhh, can't get tomorrow off.... but am dead keen, work shoudl quiten down as of next week so should be able to take days off as and when, so when there is snow..... play time! MWIS forecast shows heavy snow drifting (good) but very gusty strong winds ( 40-50mph) and that would kill me! will keep my eye out though and keep in touch
  22. Hello all, pretty new to this forum, anyone going to be flying at st. andrews this sunday? I am pretty new to this kite boarding stuff and am really excited. Anyone else around, be nice to meet other kiters and maybe get a few pointers of of them. Never been on sand before so very excited. Anyone around? Cheers Dave
  23. sollo, where abouts you based? i am keenly watching the snwo as well, as soon as there is a good dump i think i am going to go up to geln shee and up by Glas Moal as there is a huge big flat plateau at the very top behind the ski lifts.... looks perfect up there for some kiting action...
