Hey, not been on the forum for aaaages don't know where the time goes! If anyone has a spare minute, could you please fill out this questionnaire? >>>>LINK It will take literally 30 seconds Damn dissertations suck big time! Thanks all
  4. Cheers for the feedback Rayens
  5. cheers sandmonster, I've been thinking about the two way radio idea but there isn't much scope for design work so i'm a bit stuck with that in terms of getting the marks in my portfolio what if a towing device could be purchased for say £50? would this combined with a proprietary two way radio be a worth wile 'instructor package' do you think? just shooting some ideas around really
  6. Anybody? would be reeeally helpful!
  7. Hey, I'm in my second year at university studying product design and I'm looking into designing a tandem trailer for use as an instructional aid, the idea being simply that a newcomer can be shown the ropes with ease and safety by being towed behind a qualified instructor. The trailer would be aimed at kite schools rather than recreational users. Not a new concept I know but I have some ideas http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b235/board_stiffy/Questionnaire.jpg If you could just score each quote in a reply to the thread it would be greatly appreciated! thanks
  8. cheers everyone, I THINK I've cracked it, I've done one sideframe in two parts and treated each bend as one angle rather than getting confused with two angles, i've then assembled the two halfs and mirrored the sideframe as another component. by making sure the ends of the sideframes meet just over 40mm apart at the downtube i've ended up with what i think is the correct shape, though I'm not sure how accurate it is it looks about right Abba i've never used autocad so have not got a clue So, anybody know if you can rapid prototype from an assembly?
  9. Seem to remember a solidworks thread ages a go so there must be someone out there that can help I'm trying to model a flexi bug in solidworks and I'm having problems creating the side frames, I can't for the life of me work out how to get the bends correct, and can't work out how to use the 3D sketch tool to continue a line onto a different plane (if that makes sense ) Anybody with any knowledge have any ideas? cheers
  10. I learnt exactly how uncomfortable the back of a series 1 landrover is - especially with two of you and sharing with a shed load of kit , after a good 5 hours in one day I think I need my bed
  11. My dad did that with me last year when we had really bad snow and ice, it was probably the best thing he could have done as I learnt so much. It was funny a few days later while at the cinema with a few friends the car park was complete ice and a slight gradient - a group of boy racers could'nt go anywhere for shit as they where just revving up and sliding all over the place... there was me with my little polo effortlessly driving past
  12. If it's old you could try and glue a few lengths of doweling onto the bottom with some decent wood glue? might work?!
  13. My mate has one of those bars on the inside of the door, puts it accross before shutting and locking the door. I guess it would stop anyone kicking the door in but wouldn't make any difference if they have a crowbar... he keeps his motorbikes in his shed so unless you can lift a motorbike or get the bar out of the way they're going nowhere. If your handy with a paintbrush you could paint the outside and make it look like a brick shed

  15. that looks immense! looking to do a gap year in 2012 all being well so i'll put this on my list of possibilities! love the look of the mongol rally best get saving...
  16. no worries
  17. I think you should take inspiration from the Home Alone films we used to have a beeper thing linked up to the front door, it was just two magnets - one on the door and one on the door frame... every time the door opened it beeped (I guess what they have when you go into happy shopper ) cheap as chips and actually really useful.
  18. I think it was pretty much chosen because it was cheaper than steel at the time - just after WW2, and it was easier to work with in the factory. I have a book somewhere if you want some more info and something to reference to?
  19. The first landrovers used duralumin, not sure if its still being used though
  20. Everyone cocks up at some stage, in any sport, even professionals... thing with our sport is we have no control over the wind conditions. just because you have experience doesn't mean you won't get spanked by a freak gust. Yeah its less likely as you should know how to choose the right kite for the conditions, but in my opinion its not worth chancing it. Always wear one myself unless i'm static, underpowered, and unhooked

  23. Used once and found they where ever so slightly too big so they're no use to me I'm bang on size 11 so these would fit if you're just less than/or take a size 12 Pretty much as new, as stated above worn once (in freshwater) but not abused! Can take photos if required and I'm open to offers so PM me (they're THESE ones!) thanks
