  1. Yeah, probably going to give it a miss again I've actually got loads of work to do so it's probably a good thing for me.
  2. I had a couple of hours on Lambly Rec on Sunday morning. It's actually not a bad spot for a quick fix. Even with a footy match on there is still lots of space to buggy. Dog walkers seem to stick to the edge of the field to so not many people cutting across the field etc. Wind wise, it's going to be best from the west.
  3. Yeah typical! it would have been great Yesterday! 0-3mph wind here Today. I probably wont bother this week (unless it changes).
  4. Yeah, I think if the wind was up around the 15-20 mph mark, it might have been a better experience. That dead spot really was a killer! I think a 15mph SSW wind will be this sites best chance. Having said that it might be worth trying it when there is a nice NE who knows? Great to meet you anyhow, and was good to get out and fly for an hour or so. I'm going to try the Lambly Lane Rec this Sunday if the weather is ok.
  5. lol! sounds like you're doing the same sort of research as me Do you mean this field? Google Maps 53.050785, -1.223559 I've seen paragliders/paramotors landing there so it could definitely be a potential site if we can find the land owner.
  6. Sweet! Guess I'll see you there then.
  7. Hi Cafe.racer, I'm up for coming along to that. what time will it be and how much do they charge?
  8. Hi Damianbenner thanks for your report on Lambley Lane Rec I might have to check it out. I moved to Hucknall last year and I've been struggling to find any place to buggy around here Fingers crossed you might have saved my sanity!
  9. Hi there House/Si I'm the chap from Derby that you met. I'd been chatting to Carlos on FB and he pointed me to this thread. I had an fantastic day once the tide had gone out! You guys have a great spot there! we don't have many places to go to here in derby. Would definatly visit again so hope to see you again sometime.
  10. what colour is it? Cheers, Rob.
  11. I'm about 12 stone and I fly a 13m Venom II and it lifts me between 6 and 10 feet! depending on wind range. I use the Venom II in winds around 12-25 mph. If you want to sh*t yourself you should try my Flysurfer Speed 13m in 10+mph winds! LOL!
  12. OK, I have a Flysurfer Speed 13m and I've taken it out a couple of times now... One thing I will say, is that does not require much wind to lift you! LOL! It is quite a power house! However, I like the idea of a ram air foil like the Sabre. Mainly because I have a blade 4 and I have taken that out in almost zero wind and, as long as you keep it moving it will generate its own power! I find that I need a cirtain amount of wind to inflate the speed! But... once it is up! ...OMG!!!! So, my real question is this: Is the Sabre good for low wind ranges? (say -8mph?) thanks.
  13. I'm a big fan of pro-tech and 666. Good quality kit!
  14. Yeah! I must have! Dont know if you saw me flat on my face? I really hit the ground quite hard. Thing was it did not start hurting until I got home. Even then it just felt like a bruise. However I went out on Tuesday night at a place near notts and had a few minor tumbles - maybe that made it worse? It was not until Wednesday Morning when I got out of bed when the REAL pain started. Anyway, I went to get it looked at Today and the did not even x-ray me. Basically, unless I'm coughing up blood or other bad stuff... or I'm short of breath there is not a lot they can do. They advised me to take deep breaths every hour to circulate the air in my lungs and reduce the chance of infection. If my condition changes they said to come right back asap. Oh... and take lots of painkillers. LOL! I'm pretty sure I've done some damage to my ribs cos it feckin hurts! The plus side is I dont have a collapsed lung! I've had this before and know exactly what that feels like. Anyway, I'm gonna lay off the kites for a few weeks (NOOOOOOO!) Maybe I should get a buggy? at least its less distance to fall? Cheers for your support/advice guys!
  15. 6 weeks!!! Time to invest in an impact vest. bummer!
  16. Cheers chaps, I might get it looked at. I'm mainly interested in how long it will take to heal - or in other words how long untill I can fly again!
  17. Thats what I thought! If I'm still in pain aver the weekend I'll probably go to the docs. But I bet he will just give me some pain killers.
  18. I had a big fall a few days ago. Not sure exactly what happened, as I was busy concentrating on not crashing my brand new Venom II into a goal post. Anyway, when I got home my back started aching. The next day it was worse. I was thinking nothing of it and thought that I had bruised myself or somthing. Anyway the next few days felt like it was going away and so Yesterday my freind and I took to the skies again - I had a few bails but nothing too major. This morning as I got out of bed I had an almighty crack and the pain took my breath away! I was in agony for a good few hours. I'm assuming I have fractured/broken a rib. I'm still in pain but it seams to be easing. Anyone else done this kind of thing? How long did it take to heal? did you seek medical treatment?
  19. So far, my Venom 2 13m has but the biggest smile on my face.
  20. My m8 has a 10m and it pulls well in almost 0 mph wind!!!! Any advice about this kite from you pros?
  21. Will these work ok? I have a venom 2 and have been wondering if tent poles could be used. I've also heard that people use carbon rods? but I'm not sure where to get them from. anyone know? I always pack my v2 with the rods still in, so carbon ones would be cool.
  22. Thanks Chris, I may come over at some point soon. I've been planning to venture down to Airboss for a while now. (Been thinking of getting a few landboard lessons too) cheers Rob
  23. That sounds like an awesome idea!!! I might try this at some point - not that I have been rock climbing since my teens but I have been wanting to do it again at some point. thanks!
  24. Thanks so much you guys - I have just ordered a 13m Venom II (in aqua, red and white) with bar etc and a dakine storm harness. I'm going out for a good session on friday afternoon - so I hope it arrives in time! I'll post my thoughts/results as soon as I can.
  25. My Eolo R1 was about £90 and its pretty light too. Not tried anything else so I cant compare it to anything more expensive.
