  8. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/04/02/44752cec19c186e7673d5a4bf72da8da.jpg Here's a wichard setup like most racers use, this was my setup prior to the megatron. I do need to add that I used a Peter Lynn spreader bar on my harness with a D-ring attachment point. It has its advantages, short length, free rotation etc, but I preferred the ease of release on the megatron . The wichard release required some small changes as you can see here, I used a bit of dyneema , covered with a piece of plastic tubing and made a new pull cord with a stopper ball on the end. This meant that I could grab it in an emergency but you have to ensure that the cord will never wrap itself around the wichard and prevent you releasing the kite. I used my megatron setup at the champs in cherruiex a few years back and it flew through scrutineering , in fact they really liked it!!!
  9. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/04/02/c3c9716d854d0f42ac2833d4486e90ef.jpg This is the captive setup that I used for buggy racing a little while back. The first appearance of this one was put together by Mark Davies up in Fraserburgh. An ozone megatron with a holt roller block attached. The hard part was keeping the depower strop as short as possible whilst knotting it to the block. I had no issues with this setup at all, the handle strop was captive in the roller, you still have to pull on the lower handles to stall the kite, but if you were really in trouble, you release the megatron and let the kite go.. Yes that does mean the kite is off and away, but I'm pretty sure most racers would rather lose the kite than their life!!

  11. Jim, I've buggied on North Uist, at clachan Sands. The beach is massive once the tide starts receding..and it's miles long around the bay with white Sands!!
  12. I wasn't saying I would, just that they do.. Kitesurf lines. If it was me, I'd just spend the money and buy a full replacement set. At least you know that your safe!!
  13. Buggy racers splice their lines quite often after snapping them..
  14. It's the chipmunks!! Is that your fat lady?
