  2. one of those guys was using a cabrinha lei, looked about 14m-16m.. seeed to be working well.
  3. arent they built more like a stunt kite / delta wing, cus they only have one skin as opposed to a foil which inflates? I was reading a review on racekites.com which said they use a special bar to help with the break style turning of the kite. http://www.foreverflying.com/c-quad32-1.jpghttp://www.powerkiteshop.com/images/productimages/accessories/peterlynncquadcontrolbar.jpg
  4. how come longer lines are better for light winds? because it can get cleaner air?
  5. Ive had this problem a few times, and when you want to get flying, theres nothing more frustrating than having to un-knot lines. So I resorted to my fail safe:o Land the kite Pin the handles down disconnect power lines Use the winders to wrap up the Power lines in a figure 8, walking down towards your kite at your kite, disconnect the power and break lines fold each wingtip to the center line fold each side togeather then take each of these and fold on the center line weight the kite down wrap up break lines on winders, figure 8 Grab the handles /bar roll them all up inside the kite, starting at the trail edge I know it probably takes longer than other methods, because you have to keep walking back and forwards, but you Rarely get tangles, and if you do. it will only be TWO lines, not Four:cool:
  6. Whats a Quadrilution?
  7. Great improvement i think, wish i had a blade... what do you use to edit your videos? some of those transitions were brilliant
  8. I was just reading the other thread about these two kites, i didnt know anything about this "Pansh". So i decided to check out the site. i looked around and found this page: http://www.panshkite.com/?gOo=Z29vZHNfZGV0YWlscy5kd3Q&goodsid=15 It says that its selling the 8.5 BLAZE for 149.00 USD, or... 79.8090 GBP I know that Flexifoil's build quality and designs are outstanding but this 8.5 Blaze is about 75% cheaper than the Blade IV 8.5... Thats cheap. I think i might buy 1, and hey, even if it is crap, ill cut it up for for sail patches, or... Who cares! i dont kno what u guy think, but it looks like an outstanding deal to me.
  9. what kind of control gear are they using??
  10. Ah.. well done guys. It is actually a wetsuit with a wig..
  11. watch the first part. http://www.kite2high.com/gallery/video/danger.WMV
  12. theres a manual on the Felxi website http://www.flexifoil.com/downloads/instruction_manuals/Flexifoil_VPS_Inst2004.pdf the whole rig looks pretty complex.
  13. Same situation here in Hong Kong, i ordered a 4.7 rage after flying some kitesurfing kites in france. was worried about sizes after i saw my friend who has a Good 15kg on me get launched 10 downwind. 2-3 Knots - The kite is struggling to keep up, the window is tiny, collapses on the turns, your always walking backwards, wishing you had an 18m If I get 5 knots im happy enough to fly my 4.7 Rage. you start leaning back as the kite comes into the power zone, maybe just starting to skidd, but 1 or 2 steps forward and everything is under control. Excellent to learn in. 10 knots and things start to get more exciting, pulling skidds most of the time while in the power zone, the window is fully open and the kite is nicely powered up. 15 knots and now you really need to start concentrating as flying directly through the power zone is probably going to end badly. I keep the kite to the edge of the window most of the time. Jumps come naturally using the technique illustrated in that flash movie. The kite is REALLY pulling:eek: 20 knots > i bring out my Proteam 8... This is usualy the case for me, i only weigh 60 kg, but am quite expirenced, IMHO:o . As for being a learning kite, its excellent. Just this weekend, my friends went to the beach and I brought my rage. they all had a go, and not having any kiting expirence picked it up pretty quicky with some instruction from me. If they got into trouble (eg it soaring into the ground, with me screaming ) they the let go of the handles and the kite completly depowered, no harm done (phew). The wind was less than 5 knots. I think if you dont get much wind in Belgium you should get the bigger kite, just practice on low wind days untill you get the feel for it. If you ever do get into trouble, maybe in a bad gust, just drop the handles and the kite killers will do the work, its simple and safe. In the long run you will get more for you money than if you buy a bigger one 2 months down the line. I got the 4.7 and I havent looked back.
  14. this 1 is pretty cheap http://www.powerkiteshop.com/accessories/ozoneharnesslinefixed.htm I was going to buy it, but I didnt want to pay for shipping to HK. I just bought some dyneema cord. this stuff is strong, 6mm can hold about 3000 kg, 6600 lb. this is really overkill because just about everything else would break before this rope (including you, prolly:eek: ). Using this would be just as good, you dont even need to splice it, just use a dead end on both ends. the one with the quick release would be better, certinaly safer, but you could easily get some dyneema, 4mm should be fine, from a ship shop or camping shop to give it a try before you buy one from PKS or where ever:p
  15. i have a Rage 4.7, i weigh about 60kg. In 15-20 mph, it starts to get out of hand. normally it gives me good pull, enough for smooth skidds that i can keep going to make 'S' marks. Ive tried a few jumps which worked quite well, nothin big just 1-2 m or so. it dosnet drop like a brick , but that might be because im lite and the kite is big. my friend is 70 kg and he can handle the kite in 15mph without it pulling him out of control, but he dosent like to jump. in the zennith when a gust hits it does pull a bit, probably enough to pick me up, just. its a great kite and very easy to learn on. but if you want to get into jumping, prolly try the blade in light winds and just work from there, then in stronger winds you can try jumping. But dont push urself.
