bularoo rocks... i have one i love it so managable and easy to use but launching one land is a realy 'art' is the polite term i think. i am new to depower only had it out a few times. but every times it instills with confidance. even in really nasty gusty inland winds..
its not a great solution but for cost and fimtment you cannot beat a motor cycle helmt, some are really light, diferant shapes and paint jobs. and not a bad price to boot.
Good shops sell hundreds of the things your sure to find one or at least some help to talk to manufactures for any really specile fit.
hope that helps.
i have not flown may kites as yet, but i have just got a 10M Bularoo, that seems a really nice kite.
sorry i cannot compare it to the frenzy, just though i would get you looking at thoes so you can make your own jugements. i guess most of this type of buying is personnal taste anyway lol
what does it mean when it has 'good low end for a high aspect kite'? and 14m its a big one for a first depower...
personnaly i would aim for a 10M to 13M.
oh and saving is good
hi all
yep its siad 8knots in the carpark above the beach. it fairly clean air.
and my 10m bularoo was flying great. nice and easy to get to grips with.
the pepper was difficult to hold after about 5mins. arms were very tired after that.
yeah his pepper is a bit odd, we were wondering if it a settup issue. as at the zenith it pulls really hard. but if you try a sine wave it on the board just seems to luff.
we are farily new at all this. but as the man says we got some nice cruising going on witht he bularoo in the same place at the same time.
thats what i was finding. glad it was not just me.
bit odd really, it kind of slides off the edge and falls off. Its a really odd sensation.
ok i will try again in a stronger wind.
cheers dude
went to the kitejam at the weekend. really poor wind conditions on the sat.
but i did finaly get my kite in the air. it looks great. but i was having all kinds of trouble turning it in the low wind.
its probably me but i thought larger kite were better in low wind. the thing would bearly turn to the point the is was uncontrollable most of the time.
can i change the settings on the kite to make it a little more resonpsive, or was it the fact the wind was really very low.
cheers for any help
P.S. wow it looks good in the air...
what is the weight differance betwwen the scrub velcro ones and these?
if they are not a lot lighter and al lot more durable i would not see the point.
There was me thinking you meant the cushiony foam bit on the inside

yes, well, someone may have said the foam fitting pads. so ner ner ner.
lol.
minor knocks eg. drop of a couple of inch's to the floor is normaly ok.
but any drop the helmet needs caeful examination before use.
the foam inner (polystyrene foam bit) is the bit the stops you from pegging it. it slows the movment of you head towards the ground stopps you brain from slamming into the inner skull. this is the bit that causes all the damage to you brain.
the outer shell stops the foam bit from being damaged but more importantly it stop sharpe pointy bits stabing you. at best deflect the pointy bit at worsed slows it down so it does not stab you.
the impacts of a sk8 park are at a much lower speed and normaly at a very acute angle so the actual impart is quite low. the protection in sk8 helmets is only about 15mm which at the speeds buggies and board go (20mph+) IMO (i must stress it is only IMO) not nearly enough.
buggies and boards have hidden rock just below the sand which could cause massive damage. getting closer to the 25mm foam padding that is used on motorx and motor cycle helmets is much more like the needed protection.
one problem i see with this is that this makes them bulky, but it worth it to protect your life.
i would be nice to see manufactures make a proper helmet for buggy and board use for the beach and field.
being in the UK and having a formost kite manufacture flexifoil. it would be nice to see them lead the way.
be safe.
sk8 helmets are rubbish, mine landed me in hospital. There is just not enough foam protection to decellerate the head.
I have just got a very nice(lucky good looking) downhill mountainbike helmet which has about an inch of foam protection. should be good for keeping me awake (and not having fits) in the event on an impact.
sk8 helemt are for sk8-ing and not mashing up and down beachs and feilds with a kite.
Even the normal full face helmet that mountain bike rider wear have very poor chin guards. (most of them wear motorx ones) test them by push across the face the the helmet if they distort more tham a few mm then they will not do much to protect you. they are designed to deflect branches when on the bike not rocks or posts on a beach or feild.
As an N.B. even motorcross helmets (a white paper by bell helmets) chin guards are not properly standardised to give the best protection.
Only motorcycles helemts have the correct certified protection for the chin. as as always how much is your head worth?
looking good on photos for your friends? or living to see another great day at the beach.
a small socket, just bigger then the inner racer. Fitt it over the racer, and tap with a mallet/hammer. it should knock out easy ish. but be carefull of the wheel as most are plastic and can crack.
screwdrivers work but its easy to slip and crack the wheel. hope you dont mind the tip Loki_79.
is it easyer to jump with a landboard on your feet? my thinking is (correct me before i hurt myself)
if you do accidentaly get forward movment you could land on the wheels and roll, then use the normal stopping method (rise kite to zenith or just behind to slow)
or if you land heavy and the board will bend and cusion the landing - a bit.
if you start moving forward even only a tiny bit the force is distributed between forward and down.
because going forward a bit will minus the down eg softer down
