Whooo.... Just got on MSN at last

i could be wrong but form what i remeber form bio a-level its the enzymes that are denatured by heat or high Ph not the substrate. and as yeast is a living organism unlike an enzyme i would assume it can die. I am currently studying A level Biology and have not long finished that unit. I'm now starting my coursework in biology and I'm doing in on Yeast. The title is "To see how temperature effects the rate of respiration in yeast" During my research and what I have studied already, I have found out that as the temperature increases, the rate of respiration decreases meaning that the substrate has denatured and cannot fit into the active site that causes the reaction occur. It is the substrate that denatures not the Enzyme. Because of the speed they travel as the temperature increases, the friction causes the substrate to denature and no longer fit into the active site. The yeast does not die. Because the substrate no longer fits into the active site, it cannot produce Carbon Dioxide but it is still able to move as the temperature increases or decreases accordingly. The yeast does not die, it de-natures. This means that the substrate will not fit into the active site on the enzyme (in this case, yeast). Essentially the substrate fits into the enzyme like a jigsaw. Once it reaches a certain temperature (also known as the optimum temperature), the substrate is moving at such a speed that it starts to change shape. This then means that the substrate will not fit into the enzyme like a jigsaw (de-natures), but it is still moving. Because it can't fit into the enzyme, no chemical reaction can occur meaning that Carbon Dioxide cannot be released, and the rate of respiration will decrease. The Enzyme will continue to move without the release of Carbon Dioxide but it cannot die. Once it has heated up again, the substrate will try and fit into the active site of the enzyme but no chemical reaction will occur as it is essentially the wrong shape. This process will continue every time the yeast is heated up and then left to cool down meaning it will not die. Hope that makes sense Aye

Hi guys I was wondering if you could help me. I've been kiting for about a year now and have been boarding a little with my 1.5m spirit, only now I’m after a kite with a little more lift and pull. I like the way the blades fly but I’m after something a little cheaper for now that will do the same thing. I'm eventually hoping to get a blade but until I have the money could anyone suggest a kite that’s similar in performance? Thanks for the help. Aye

You'd be surprised. In decent winds I got moving on my 1.5m spirit (Skybum) Got some decent speed too. . Lian on the forum bought a 2.5m FF Rage for learning how to board on and she loved it. It wasn't too much for her and she looked really relaxed on it. But again it's up to you.
