  1. After thinking about this a lot, I'm pretty sure those were power slides...not upwind turns. Now I just have to work on breaking the tires loose. I'd think high tire air pressure would help. Other than really cranking that heelside edge down and bringing the kite back into the power zone are there any other things I should know about? Thanks for all the info you guys! Greg
  2. Hey! Thanks for the info. When I first started riding last year I would do exactly what you're talking about, bringing the kite high in the window and coming to a stop and reversing direction. I'd go back and forth heel side. On this trip I was bound and determined to ride toeside which I managed to do. This allowed me to do downwind turns going both ways. What a cool feeling carving those turns powered up (kind of reminded me of making a turn on a wakeboard outside of the wake behind a boat)! Riding toeside also negated how much goofy footed riding I was doing but it ate up the beach and required pinching upwind on each reach. When I saw this guy sliding around at the end of upwind turns I was kind of baffled at first and I'm still a little confused about what he was doing. I wish I had videoed it. Do you know what kind of sliding upwind turn I'm talking about? If you know of any video that shows this type of manuever I'd appreciate a link. Anyway, I'm bound and determined to learn some new stuff but I've got to get back to a beach. Thanks again for the info. Anything else will be greatly appreciated. Greg
  3. Hey! Just got back from a trip to the Bay Area. We kited on Ocean Beach for two days and the winds and tides were perfect. Even with the low tides, downwind turns used up precious hard packed sand. I saw a landboarder going up and down the beach at the waters edge (and beyond) riding heel side both directions and doing these sliding upwind turns. He was also scrubbing speed by sliding sideways. I want to learn how to do these sliding turns but I was having trouble breaking the wheels loose (at least at the right time!). Any suggestions? Greg
  4. It's rigged with a 55 cm Naish bar and trim strap. After closer inspection and some info from the guy who modded the kite, I found out the chicken loop does have a release mechanism...still no way to totally depower the kite. I'd like to rig a similar bit to the Flexi set up for reverse launching. Can you buy that piece seperately? Thanks for the info...I'm thinking the 7.0 Flexi bar might be a bit short also. Greg
  5. Hey Guys! I am off to Breckenridge and Dillon Lake next week. I'm totally psyched! I'm bringing my Sabre mk1 7.0 and my newly modded BIII 10.5. I just got the Blade back and haven't had but two sessions with. Both sessions had lousy wind so I don't have a real good feel for it yet. One thing I noticed immediately is that there are no safety devices. In my second session, I attached the chicken loop to my climbing harness with a quick release wichard in case I had to cut it loose. I'd prefer something that didn't just release the kite completely. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks advance! Greg
  6. It has a Naish bar, chicken loop and trim strap. The mod is a 4 pulley Flysurfer type set-up. Nice job by John at powerforcekitesports.com and good depower. Probably reduced the lower end but it sure turns faster than with handles. There's no safety features so I am using my quick release wichard to attach the chicken loop to my climbing harness. Hopefully, I'll never have to cut the kite loose but it makes me (and my wife) feel better that I'm not completely at the mercy of the BIII 10.5. I'm off to Breckenridge Colorado next week for some snowkiting at Dillon Lake. Hoping for good wind! Greg
  7. Hey! I just got my BIII 10.5 back from having it modded to depower and then I took the old Triple A Adjuster and put it on my Rage 2.5. Wow! What a difference. Now all I need is some serious wind! BTW The mod on the 10.5 seems to work pretty well. The only thing I'm a little freaked about is that it has no safety. I need to figure something out. Any suggestions? Greg
  8. I'll have to slap that Triple A on the Rage. Thanks for the info. I'm having a guy named John Elkins at powerzonekitesports.com do the mod on the 10.5 BIII. He tells me it is not unlike having control of the Triple A at the bar. I know his mod has a number of pulleys. I'll let you know how it comes out. Greg
  9. Hey! I just got a Rage 2.5 and I'm wondering if the Flexi Triple A Adjuster will work on it. I have one left over from my BIII 10.5 which is being modded for depower. Are there different sized Triple A Adjusters or is it a one size fits all deal? Thanks in advance for the help! Greg
  10. No Rage yet. I am tracking it on UPS and it will be here Monday. The weather here was good today but the wind was just a tease. I had the Bego 400 out. More lumpy wind. My three year old daughter was making fun of me sitting in the buggy going nowhere while trying to keep the kite in the air. I see you are debating between the Rage, Cult and Brooza. I'll let you know what the Rage is like when it arrives. Do you know whether the 2.5 would need the triple A adjuster? I have one on my BIII 10.5 but that has got to be way too big I'd think. Anyway...I'll follow up with my experience with the Rage when it gets here. Greg in GA
  11. How do you like your Access II 4.0? G
  12. Thanks Rayens. Do you put a pig tail on the front lines and attach the rings or pulleys to another with a loop? I really like this kite. It's construction is awesome and it packs down to nothing. If I can get it tuned right, it will probably be my most used kite. Greg
  13. I have some Ronstan pulleys rigged as power rings. After reading the posts on this forum, I think the lines on the pulleys might be a little too short. I have them at about 5 centimeters. From what I've read, they need to be 7.5 to 10 cm. Thanks you guys. Greg
  14. I have some Ronstan pulleys rigged as power rings. After reading the posts on this forum, I think the lines on the pulleys might be a little too short. I have them at about 5 centimeters. From what I've read, they need to be 7.5 to 10 cm. Thanks you guys. Greg
  15. Thanks for the info. Never tried a NASA wing. Interesting. Where are you guys in AL? Do I need to look into a AAA for the Rage 2.5? Greg
  16. Hey Everyone! I have a 4.0 Bego that I got last year and have only had out a couple of times. I just can't seem to get it tuned right. It either wants to shoot to the top of the window and overfly or falls back into the window (both of which are kinda scary). If anyone has any experience with this kite, I would appreciate any hints on tuning. Thanks in advance! Greg
  17. Just traded an old ARC 1120 for a new Rage 2.5. It's kinda small but I want to be able to go out when its really howling. I like being able to throw the kite around in the relatively small area I have to work with. If it works well, I'll get another larger one. Greg
  18. Thanks for the info guys. I'm gonna pump those tires up. They're definitely low. You're right about the back thing. Does anyone have a good design for a back rest for the MK 1? Greg
  19. Hey Guys! I have a place to kite everyday but I've had some difficulty really enjoying landboarding. The wind is usually very erratic with big gusts and sudden lulls. There are also some space limitations with fences, trees and buildings downwind. This has made landboarding difficult for obvious reasons. The buggy seems to be a good fix. What I need now is a kite that is going to handle the wind. Currently, I'm back to going out in the gustier conditions with a 3 mtr two line kite with a bar, no harness. I can throw it around and get going pretty well. The big gusts aren't likely to send me flying. It works pretty well but it won't reverse launch and its pretty old. I have a first gen Sabre 7 but it doesn't like the gusty conditions and has a habit of rushing to the edge of the window and then falling in a ball when the wind dies. I've bought a used 4 mtr Bego on handles but haven't gotten it tuned quite right yet. Should I continue working on that Bego or is there a better alternative? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Greg
  20. No problem...$100 US. Seemed like a good deal. The guy had scared himself silly under a blade 11 4.9, turned the buggy upside down in a group of people and his mom was *****ing at him because it took up so much space. We had a blast with it in 30+ knots of wind and a three meter trainer. What about those back wheels? Are they stock? They kinda look underinflated but they ride well. I'm loving this thing. We fly in such lousy wind that I have to endure a lot of lulls followed by big gusts. Unlike the landboard, balance doesn't become such as issue in the lumpy wind and turning is so much faster. Do they make replacement foot straps for this buggy anymore? Thanks for the info! G
  21. Here's another. The back tires seem a little low on pressure but I'm not sure how much air they can take. It says not use anything over 2.0 bar?
  22. Hey! I just got back from a trip to the coast of GA for some landboarding. While kiting a guy came out on the beach dragging an old buggy he wanted to sell. He made me a deal I couldn't refuse and now I'm hooked. The problem is I don;t know much about this buggy and I'd like to be able to buy replacement parts or at least get a little info on it. Maybe you guys can help me identify it and give me some background on the model. Thanks in advance! Greg in North Georgia where the wind is **** most of the time
  23. Is the blade crossover kit exclusively for flying with two lines or can you use it with the Triple A Bridle Adjuster. In fact, can you use the Triple A with only two lines? Second question: Where can I get a crossover kit for a BIII 10.5? Thanks! Greg
  24. I bought a 2nd or 3rd hand Arc 1120. The depower strap is attached to the chicken loop but it is also fixed to the bar at the midpoint through a series of loops and knots. There is no adjusting the chicken loop in or out. Is this normal? Can anyone explain how to put a picture in the post? I want to include a pic of the rig so someone can help sort it out. Thanks! G
  25. Found my hook spreader bar and that makes all the difference. Definitely getting the seat harness wedgie though so I might get a climbing harness or try a waist harness. Hey Dave...glad you like your kite too. Pretty good deal on ebay with those kites...I'm seriously considering an 11.5 to round things out. I haven't had my Sabre overfly but the wind hasn't been very strong yet. Some good gusts which the Sabre handles well. One problem I have had is it balling up at the extreme edge of the window but that is more my fault for pushing the kite too far upwind. I plan on going to Breckenridge in late January and bringing the Sabre with me. My brother says the snow in Tahoe is heavy and wet but the Colorado is having a banner year. You guys are getting hammered in the Bay Area. Better start building an ark soon! G
