Glad to hear you are getting back to Kiting
Take your time and if you’re not sure about kite size go smaller rather than bigger.
My Partner Sara broke her neck in August of last year (for the second time neither due to kiting). After a long stay in Rehab we finally got back on the beach. Sara unfortunately does not have full movement on her left side and frequently gets spasms whereby her left hand will grip and not let go so it was decided depower was the way to go as she could rest her left hand on the bar rather than gripping it.
In May the first kite Sara flew was a 4m access she sat on the beach and launched the kite then landed it a couple of times.
I then asked Sara to launch the kite and land it when I told her to. To ensure that the kite could be landed quickly if needed.
All went well and Sara been Sara wanted to be back in her buggy. Again we went through the same process ensuring that the kite could be landed and the bug stopped in case of emergency.
Since May we have invested in some walkie talkies so that we are always in contact in case Sara needs any help or needs to be helped back to base due to Spasms or that she is in a lot of pain bearing in mind that the pain killers Sara takes each day would more than likely put most of on our backs.
I have only had to tow Sara back once up to now so I think she is doing really well
Sara is gradually increasing her speed in the bug currently up to 27mph last time out and she is loving been able to kite again which at one time we did not think would be possible for Sara again.
Just goes to show what can be achieved with determination and help from others.
