  1. Here on the Bay of Fundy, Atlantic Canada, all we get are gusty winds....Im 120lbs soaking wet and today I was out in 25-35 mph winds on my PL xr+ bug. Ive been flyin traction for 8 + yrs but only got bug late last summer. I dont't bother lugging my 2, 3 and 5 m bridled open foils any more as my VI 10m is soooooo much more stable and predictable with our winds...did I mention the winds here are gusty?...Cruisin is a snap once you get the kite dialed in and, depending on your preferences, you can adust straps to get the sweet spot when bar is in, out or anywhere in between... Inflating arc's is the key to launching but if there aint enough wind to inflate then IMhO it aint worth going out. Im looking at either a 16m VII or scorp to complete my 2 kite Quiver...Im talking buggy, ski, snowboard and surfing quiver. Rob
  2. Hi All.... Here in Atlantic Canada I seem to be on the leading edge of buggy'ing and need some advise... Ive a PL XR+ and want (need) foot peg straps. Are stretchy bungy cords best or will non stretch rope work better?...Do I need to take off the round disks at the end of the pegs or is there an easy way to anchor aformentioned straps around them? I've got the extra wide tires, which are perfect (IMO) for our beaches, but one tire has a leak along the rim. Ive broken the seal and cleaned the sand out several times but still have the slow leak...not that its a big deal as it only takes a few pumps to fill but it is still agrovation... ANY AN ALL ADVICE MORE THAN WELCOMED. Rob
  3. Anyone do it same day...water, sand and snow...im not talking within 24 hrs Im saying buggy from 10am til noon, then sufrf from noon till 2 and ski\snowboard from 2;30 till yer beat?? Rob
  4. I read on PL site that seat adjustment is "critical" for proper performance but there was no user manual with my unit.....can anyone point out a site with manual or explain how the seat should be properly adjusted? Thanks much Rob
  5. Hi Sorry to semi hijack thread....Im an experienced kiter but have only had my Pl XR+ for a few months and just getting comfy hooking into harness,,,,no issues with pl seat harness.. Anyone point me to a good trick how to site or recommend good book...I"ve inadvertantly learned a few tricks...hehehe...and am just started to get confident with Venom 10 as an engine...been primarily using 3 and 5m foils on handles. How the hell are you guys attaching yourself to the buggy?...any info or pics would be much appreciated.. BTW...here in this part of Atlantic Canada we are getting our first major storm...rivers and lakes still open and local kiteskiiers have been going nuts and are taking real close look at my bug...with our 28 ft tides there are some awesome buggy spots and Im looking forward to the snow so I can buggy, kiteski and kitesnowboard on the same day...with wet\drysuit next year Ill be able to add surfing in there too...woohoo Hate this sport Rob
  6. WOW...just the sort of info Im looking for guys...Ill have some more questions as soon as I re-read and absorb...prob take a day or 2.. Hey Shrimpo...I deal with Grant as Im a PL dealer... I have learned that it pays to go with the best product possible and while I am convinced that Venoms fit that bill for kites I am clueless re buggies and hence the post. Some great heads-up info on bolts and bearings...I have also found that it can be these small "irritants" that can cause biggest headaches...Thanks again all. Rob
  7. Hi All Not a bit of snow on the ground here in Atlantic Canada and the frozen farmers feilds are calling so I am looking for some advice re buying a buggy. Not much of a buggy scene here...none actually...YET:)... Im partial to Peter Lynn products but not etched in stone. Probably 30% use on feilds and 70% beaches....worlds highest tides only 1 hr drive away...there are 2 very good hard packed sand beaches but softer sand and "gravelly" capability will open MANY more spots. Watching vids of guys jumping from flat has me gob struck and that is an obvious goal...Im only 130 lbs...I get my speed fix on ice with skiis so that not a priority...I have a 4.2 C-quad along with 2, 3 and 5.5 m open foils, a 4\5 and 8\11 Vios and a 7.3 closed foil and a 10m Venom....VENOMS ROCK.....I think I have kites covered...hehehe I have learned that this sport\addiction is about trade-offs and I expect buggys are the same...at either end of options are buying used off of internet or breaking bank and buying latest top of the line new...not excited obout either. I could get a middle of road unit and resell when Im ready to upgrade. I am very mechanically handy so modifying does not scare me. Are there any makes\models I should avoid? Do I need to upgrade bearings to handle salt water? Are wide tire units specific or can you easily switch from normal width to wide (or vise versa)? Will wide tires work on firmer surfaces or will they wear out quickly? If I order new what spare parts (if any)should I also order to avoid down time? Thanks all Rob
  8. Hi... I think I remember reading somewhere that you need to ask ski shop to do something a bit different when tuning skiis for kiting...Am I having bad flash-back or is there something?...Quick search was of no help. Thanks Rob
  9. What time of the year?...Is east coast Canada to far....here is my playground http://www.nbkites.ca/SJ%20river%20map.htm ...300+ km of kitable frozen rivers and lakes with 500 hotel rooms (in Fredericton) that are only meters from river....fair sized ski hill 35 minutes away with good kids programs and a short drive from the hill and you have another 50 km of kiting area....an hours drive south takes you to worlds highest (7m+) tides with a few decent boarding beaches (at low tide) and if you have a drysuit you can surf, landboard, ski and snowboard on same day..heheehe..that is one of my objectives next winter....the St John river is espesially well suited to beginners because it is mostly1-1.5 km wide and there are roads running along both banks of river so you never get to far from a pick up on downwinders...this area is AMAZING....flying in to Fredericton would obviously be preferred but you will save money flying into Moncton, a 90 min drive ... save even more (I think) if you fly into Halifax, Nova Scotia...4 hrs drive away.... Let me know if you need any more info or I can be of any other assistance Rob www.NBKites.ca
  10. Anyone, please ?
  11. Hi I just aquired a skateboard with a 32" deck and an 18" wheel base. The trucks are not top of the line but from my very limited experience I would say they are not el-cheapos either. I see that most ATB boards have a 15" axle and a machinist buddy said he can make axle extentions or rig up a new axle with current trucks. Wheelbase length seems to be 30(ish)" on alot of atb and if I re-mount trucks on tips of deck I can get 32". I see alot of atb have the trucks mounted on tips (kick?) and was wonderng if the tip mounted trucks are different from the trucks that are mounted on flat\level part of deck? Other than lowering the center of gravity I cant see any difference.... The current deck has almost no flex and on some vids I can see alot of flex on ATB's so how does no flex limit a board for kiting? Should I replace plastic\rubber bushings to a set of better quality ? Any other suggestions or tips welcomed. Thanks Rob
