thiesen Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Hey guys. When you had the possibility of changing your 2004 Frenzy 12m² into a FS Psycho2 17m² and you were living in the deepest inland and you would already have another 2004 Frenzy 9.5m² - would you do that? Would it be the better completion? And for freestyle the better choice? What do you think? Greats from South Germany. Quote
Oooo Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 thiesen hello first of all next a little more information would be good like normal wind conditions ,as you say inland so i would think for you maybe light so i would look at it definitely ,but do you know the condition of the FS 17 and are you happy do you use your 12 much ,WOULD you use a 17m2 kite if so then sounds like a good swap ,but one thing mate i dont free style i buggy and have been flying for over a year and a half . regards mike Quote
thiesen Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 Hi mike. Thanks for your welcome. I used to buggy for about 5 years and came at the end of last year to kitelandboarding. Wind conditions here are always between 6-15 knots. 20 are much and very infrequent. Flysurfer says the Psycho2 17m² is best in 8-17 knots - so would fit perfectly. I tried already a FS SpeedI and a Pulse2 but never a Psycho. So I would like to know something about Lift, Hangtime, Pop in comparison to the Frenzy. regards sebastian Quote

thiesen Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 Alright Mike. Thanks so far for your help. I will try to get one of those PS2 in my hands and give it a try - before selling my Frenzy I will let you know about the differences. ;-) Cheers. Quote
Oooo Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 hey sab the FS shits all over frenzy realy in the way it preforms so i been told Quote
thiesen Posted April 24, 2009 Author Report Posted April 24, 2009 wow - ok. How come? Because of what? Quote
Luke Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Hi Thiesen, What sort of money value are we talking about here for your kite swap. Both the Frenzy 04 and the Psycho 2, are old kites, the safetys on newer models are much better on both the Frenzy & the Psycho's. There were a lot of refinements done on the Psycho's between the P2-P3. You should be able to get a P3 at a reasonable price, if you shop around, my vote would be for the P3. If you go onto foilzone and search Psycho 2 you will find some threads regarding the P2, you will get about 69 pages of hits for your search, start at the back end of the forum (Page 66) and work your way forward towards page one there is some reading for you. http://www.foilzone.com/phpBB2/search.php?search_id=1607080149&start=975 or a direct link to a late model prototype P2 can be found here. http://www.kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=2299848 Hope this helps. Personally if you have been happy with a 12m a 17 will be a bit of overkill from what you are used to, the 13m P3 is a sweet kite, and will have a LOT more power than a 12m Frenzy, everything on the FS kites is upsized, per square meter they produce much more power than the same sized kite. Keep that in mind when you are shopping. Eg a 10m Speed 2 is going to have more power than your 12m Frenzy. 13m P3, would be like a 15m open cell foil. Cheers Luke Quote
schmik Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 I agree with Luke, the P3 is a much better kite. The depower on the P2 was not that good, nor was the safety. I had a 7m P2, 8m P3 and 13m P3. And 03 9.5m frenzy and 12m 06 Frenzy. I'd suggest the p3 13 too. It has more power than the frenzy and is stable. Although.... a kite that large would be fun in your light winds. mike Quote
thiesen Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 OK - that helped alot. Thanks. I came to that point by myself last night when I was surfing around at flysurfer.com. Seems like they realy did much from P2 to P3. I like my Frenzy12 but for me it is too close to my 9.5 Frenzy. There were alot of times when I could have taken out both of them - because with the more turning speed of 9.5 you can get as much power as with the pretty slow 12. I will shop for a P3 now seems like I can get one for about 1100 AUD. Thanks, Sebastian Quote
max Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 thought you wanted a playstation 2 for a minute i have a playstation 2 will be more than willing to swap it for a frenzy Quote
plummet Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 i can't advise you between frenzy and fs but what i can say is make sure you get yourself a faster kite. the only frenzies are nice but too slow. once you step into a faster newer beast you will understand. i'd say a 17m would turn like a bus and would also suggest maybe a smaller faster kite than 17m. heres another thought. sell the 9.5 and 12 and buy one newer kite thats faster and has the wind range of both old kites. i understand the p4 has a MASSIVE wind range. In fact that's what I'm about to do. Don't know if it will be enough for a P4, but at least it'll be P3. cheers Quote
plummet Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 the the newset kite you can. the safeties and wind ranges of the latest kites are excellent. Quote
Luke Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Hi Thiesen, If you have some money, then you should have a look at the Outlaw also, its an open cell kite with plenty of depower, this will save you some money in buying a closed cell kite like a P3. The Outlaw will out turn a P3 in each size also, it is a lighter kite meaning it will get going in lighter winds too. The P3 is a great kite, if you can pick one up for a good price, pretty sure you will be happy with it. Do some research on the Outlaw also, its turning out to be a very popular snowkite overseas. thiesen Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Hey Luke, thanks for your information - I've already read about the Outlaw. But I was always unsure about buying one - due to the fact that it's the first generation. But the pictures and videos I've seen are looking pretty good. So I guess I will have a look for it too. Thanks, Sebastian Quote

Thanks, Sebastian Hey Sebastian, Alrighty, before I go any further with this, I had better disclose I am a team rider for Flysufer. Now I have said that, there is nothing wrong with the 1st Gen, Outlaw. I don't profit from sales so really have no gain from what you do or do not buy, but I will vouch for its performance. Video's speak louder than words. maybe this will help Outlawed v2 on Vimeo & here is some snowkiting action from FS, including the outlaw, Team KAF Snowkite in l'Aubrac & le Forez on Vimeo keep your eye out for the skier in the red jacket, that is a 12m Outlaw. Cheers Luke. Quote
thiesen Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Thanks Luke. The Outlaw action really looks sweet. Guess at the moment it is still hard getting a second hand Outlaw - even so I saw already one. Anyway the design is awesome. I'd love to get one. Greats Quote
Luke Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 No dramas Sebastian. Have a fly on a few kites first, then get something that suits you. Luke Quote
thiesen Posted April 29, 2009 Author Report Posted April 29, 2009 Hey, yesterday I had the chance to test a Psycho3 in 13m² and it was awesome. Now I have the option to buy a Psycho 3 13m² and a Psycho3 17m² for the same price. I wonder if the 17m² would be the better decision or not - considering the fact that I'm doing lanadboarding (and no kitesurfing), my weight is 72kg and the local wind conditions are mostly gusty wind and wind speed from 4-11 knots. Or if it would be too much. Anyway the Psycho3's lift and turning speed was really great. Greats, sebastian Quote
plummet Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 13m the 17 will be poo. saying that i haven't flown either. but the last thing i'd want is a 17m in the air in gusty conditions. have you got a hill? 11knots on a hill = mucho air. Quote
