Well done Fluffy-lou.

Putting the pressure on FluffyWOO now.

I note almost 60 miles of travelling on your GPS.

Was that over the weekend or during one day?

Good distance travelled as well.

Hey PTW, Managed to get my PB in desert yesterday, trying to keep up with the Sand Yeti and bouncing around the uneven surface, I managed 50.1 km/h, riding a Libre supertruck and flying a 3.5m Blurr, picture attahced.

I'm pleased frp pete as he'd been trying to crack the 50kph barrier for a few weeks.

He did well.

I was flying my 5.0m Blurr that day and my max speed wasn't much more. I hit a max. of 54.8 kph.

Our terrain is totally unsuitable to obtain very high speeds.

Typically, if we have good winds in which to get high speeds the desert floor is whipped up in a layer of fine dust, so that visibility is down to maybe 20 or 30 feet.

Also, it is not very flat.

The worst we have to deal with is car ruts where 4x4's have left nice dual channels across the desert. Smack into those at 55 kph plus and the buggy is in the air. We also have Dthub's that burrow into the subkahs. They make fair sized holes that can be interesting if the front wheel hits one.

Thanks :o

The distance was cumulative for the two days - I buggied 37 miles on Saturday in several stints - my pb total daily distance - and then did the remaining 23 miles on Sunday in one stint - the furthest I have ever buggied in one continuous session without stopping or dropping my kite.

It's taken me blooming long enough - but finally I'm starting to get there - and I just can't get enough right now.

Next step is to perfect the power slides so they become second nature, and then on to the big 30... :p

And big congratulations to FluffyWOO - breaking 20mph wasn't that long ago for me and I know how that feels :D . You're a proper buggier now!!!

Well today happens to be my turn for a new PB, after a 370mile 7hr round trip....to spend the total of two hours on the beach and a total of no more than ten minutes in the Dominator Buggy, because of mental gusts, the wind was 28mph gusting to 41mph, with hail stones rain sun you name it, we had it...I literally couldn't keep my feet on the ground when the 2.5 Century was at the Zenith, any way, after being rather disappointed with my top speed, and Croftland1 getting over 40mph in his new (My Old) SuperBug, we headed back to the car park, it was only when I was taking my GPS out of the holder I noticed the top speed was set on the average speed....Ahaaaaaaaaaaa, no wonder I felt I was going faster than it said...

After locating the top speed, I found that I had done 54.30mph, after covering only 4 miles....54.30mph chuffed wasn't the word, finally got home and called into the pertrol station to fill the van up to the brim again, and the total amount I could get in was... yep £54.30...:)

My top speed at NABX 2008 Ivanpah Dry Lake USA

45.9 miles per hour

Heavily Modified Libre Full Race weighs in at about 150 Lbs

Flexifoil Blade I 3.3m

Completely overpowered as the wind came up in the middle of a 7 mile run. Front tire was cocked 45 degrees spinning and skidding the whole time. The back end would not break away in order to scrub off speed. One run would not have been that bad but it took 7 runs of 7 miles each to wait out the wind as I was not going walk back to camp 7 miles. At each end of the run there is a little wind shadow from the surrounding hills to allow me to slow down enough to turn. The wind finally dropped enough that I could get back to camp and call it a day. My biggest fear was that the front tire was going to blow out as the playa is very course and you can wear a set of tires out in a day and I was at the tread.

The next day I did 44.6 miles per hour with both my 3.4 m NPW9 and 5.3 m NPW9 on ten foot lines, what a rush and much more enjoyable than the run with the Blade

Had another great day in the desert, winds were described as Nuclear by SY!! Certainly not what we were used too....gusting 26knots, steady at 18knots....very strange winds all afternoon. Its was like sitting in front of a hair dryer.....still another PB, its steadily going up, but yet was closer to having a an OBE at speed than ever before.......52km/h. We had a guest appearance from our friend of the desert, Ashi, he came with dates for us, he left with cans of Diet Pepsi.....its a fair trade!!

Well ive gone and broke the magic 30mph at long last. I dont get to use my buggy as much as many of you on here but im well chuffed what i done last week at Westward Ho. My previous best was 27mph which i now regret not putting on here. My record fell 3 or 4 times over the week and ended up with 37 mph. Achieved using a standard flexi buggy and a 3.5 Rage.

Came home with a new record but also minus a buggy wheel ! Lost on westward Ho bank holliday Monday if and one can help.

Rob.

Finally made the 25 mph mark...:-]...Same gear, flexi and 2.5 blurr....

Well done Wendy. Sounds like you had a great day & good winds.

Didn't buggy yet (that's tomorrow wind permitting at Maplethorpe) but sitting here in Lincoln. Not to be outdone, sat in PTW's Dominator today.

Brig says congrats too & to take care.

Thanks Sand Yeti and Brig...It was a great day on Friday just Pete and i, the winds were steady, weather was hot and Pete came across a small Gazelle that ran past him. It was a beautiful and rare sight to see. Pete took some very good video shots and photos too of my kiting. I was being a bit daring and flew the kite close to the camera and he managed to catch me in action when i hit my 25 mph mark. Think the next challenge is to try 30  .... Hope you both have had a lovely time at the beach....:)
