Hi Guys,

My other half has just booked us into Pitton Cross Caravan Park for next Friday to Monday. Never been to the gower before.

Will I be able to go buggying at Rhossili from there, and if so where is the best place to park up and set up?

Yeah I know that it is half term which is half of the reason we are going, but nice that she thought of me eh :D ? Will it be absolutely mad on the beach?

Any restrictions that I should know about?

There are restrictions on the beach. For buggying you'll need to go to Llangennith and park by Hillend campsite. Walk through the dunes and turn right. Once you've passed a small beach stream you're in the kiting zone. It's an amazing beach in westerlies.

Happy flying and I may even see you down there.

Peace,

Are you saying that you can basically only buggy & landboard north of the stream in the centre of this map:

>> Rhossili Google Maps

If so that looks a fair old walk from the car park. What other nearby beaches do you recommend for other wind directions?

That's the one.

True to say it's a bit of a walk but not any more than you'd've walked from Rhossilli. It's only the 100 or so yards through the dunes that's a pain. Then it's easy peasy to the flying zone.

In an Easterly you can fly at Oxwich Bay. North Westerlies there's Broughton Bay too. This needs a fair walk but it's a beautiful place.

I've spent loads of time at Llangennith and have had my best sessions there. The advantage of going past the stream is that even if it's packed with holiday makers they rarely bother to go this far so there's loads of room to let rip. In fairness I'm only usually lugging my board and bags so can imagine the buggy'll be a pain. PM festa and see how he gets on.

Happy flyin

Buggy is not to much hassle,

when you drive into the car park look out for the gate on the right just before the main parking bit, follow that as far as you can go.

walk through the gate take a right through the dunes and you'll end up by "the stream".

I've got a 150 axle, no hassle at all.

takes about 5 mins:D

no restirctions, parking is the most exspensive on teh gower take a £10 note but expect some change, parking right next to the beach you can pee on it from the seat of your car. it dosent always drain well though and can be quite wet. noramlly very smooth and hard though, expect lots of people on hot days, realy popular as it is offen shaded from the wind and gets the sun most of the day.children horse riders jet skis power boats and canoeists also metal detectors and people digging for lug worm

but when it works on teh water its fantastic.

Perhaps too busy for the buggy then? If it is blowing 20mph do they all go home?

no but they then tend to stay on the soft sand. the beach has a quick drop off where the soft sand ends and then it becomes hard and shallow for quite a distance. get the buggy out by the water a few hours after high tide and you can head over to the end of the beach furthest away from the car park and it gets much quieter, should be a 2 min run in the buggy at most if your going slowly so as not to offend anyone and cause any risk.

Went down oxwich on sat, tide was full in about 5pm, the beach near the slipway was heaving due to bank holiday and warm weather, some nutter got his 4x4 and inflatable dinghy on the trailer stuck in the sand to the left of the slipway, don,t know why he didn,t line it up on the ramp rather than trying to bring it out on the sand. (novice probably).

Wonder if it would have been busy today, cooler but fairly good NE breeze!
