We worked out with R&D that dropping from 6ft in a buggy puts a force of nearly 1 tonne through your body! Hardly surprising having isseus tbh.

What goes through Hanks then???:D

Take it easy guys get well soon...

Hope you guys heal up ok.

Here is a quote from a health and safety friend of mine

"The reason that you are told to lift heavy weights with your legs and not your back is that you can replace a knee joint, as yet medical science had not come up with a replacement spine!"

Hate to sound like your father peeps but is it really worth messin yourself up for the rest of your life? and think of the poor b******s that will have to look after you.

Lecture over, take care everyone.

That is a Scan of the back, as u can see the disc is popped and the jelly is pushing against the nerves so where pain is coming from.

Sorry to hear about that Craig, (and Frakke too). I can well understand how the damage is done and I guess that the high impact stuff needs to be avoided. This is RSI on a big scale!

On the bright side, I used to have all kinds of problems with my back, shoulders and neck that required regular visits to the Ostiopath etc and probably related to accidents when I was younger :(.

The odd thing is that after I started kiting and buggying, I've been basically fine. I guess that a little bit of 'traction' and all the core muscle excercise that you get can also be quite positive :). It is just a case of knowing where to draw the line I suppose.

Anyway, hope you both recover soon.

Steve.

seems to be everyones getting destroyed at the minute

Get Well soon both of you, well all of you

im not sure whats wrong with my back now, its like it just needs to be cracked back into shape...

now im gonna spend al night thinkin about how the buggy could be made to stay rigid before taking off, then being able to take the landing more gentle, then becoming rigid again... make sense?

speedy recovery chaps:) ..i find the gentle exercise approach helps me.Warming up before a sesh aint a bad thing either.

being in the (ever so slightly) older group of jumpers, i wonder how long it will be before i give up the buggy jumping. My injuries haven't been severe( mostly grazes, sprains and the occasional back issue), but my lower back is definately more susseptible to injury now than it was :( ....

...can't say i didnt know it would happen..... but i dont plan to give over any time soon;) :D

Doubt it will be much use as all it is designed fro is to keep the core stable, and then also at the expense of strengthening your muscels etc.

BUT your injury is cause due to continuous impacts down the spinal column and as such has built up over a period of time, so not a case of if the muscels are supporting or not, but odds on damage/wear to the bone.

Take it easy, Jon

I'm looking at stuff like this now :o

http://www.back2.co.uk/products/backaids/support_belts/vulkan_lumbar_support.html

This one isn't the "dandiest looking outfit" but seems to do the job and would fit under the 661 and a harness

still I'll keep looking for something "trendier"

Look quite padded so harnesses etc maybe an issue.

Few others on that site too.

Heal soon fellas
