The Australia Day weekend REALLY put me to the test! Three days solid of kiting with a marathon 4 hours on the water on the third day. Aside from the usual aches, pains & blisters it's taken it's toll on me with back pain from my harness.

I'm going to try a seat harness out to see if it makes it any better, but having to come in off the water when my back starts to complain is a real kill-joy.

Managed almost 3 hours on the water this afternoon and i'll be back out there for another ~2-3 hours tomorrow so i'm not defeated... just having to pace myself a little more than usual.

As for the seat harness Koma, at least with my Peter Lynn seat harness, you do have to wear a wet suit under it, just speedos is not so good. Learnt this the hardway, forgot my boardies, was too hot for a wet suit, so just when out with the speedos. The tug down in the nether region is a bit uncomfortable, and even more so after landing a jump. Spartan has the same problem as per my discussion with him yesterday. Next day, a little colder, I wore my spring suite ---- ahh much better. With my seat harness I never get back ache problems. The first thing that gets tired with me are my tigh or knee muscles. So if you see me heading off almost down wind standing vertically on by board, that's me giving my legs a rest.

I'd recommend swimming as a really way to help get fit and toned. The best part about it is that there is no stress on your back like a lot of other sports hence why they often use swimming/water in rehabilitation.

blah balh blah .... so just when out with the speedos. blah blah blah

 Norm ... I am shocked. I want at least 2000 words titled "Why we don't wear speedos"

There is no need for self abuse and no need to torment your friends. :yes3:

p.s. I will give a full report on what happens to your kite fittness after a long break, most of my cross training has been spent on the keyboard :D

I am 168cm and 59kgs...thought I was fit, but after 6 weeks of kiting my arms are starting to look freaky...especially forearms, small muscle definition and I swear I am growing new veins...

Just one thing - I have attempted a gym in the morning and kiteboarding in the evening and had bad time, I think that's too much.

sorry for lack of posting... back at work and very busy.

i'm still riding 3-4 times per week, and kiting whenever the wind allows me. i've backed off on the gym sessions to once a week, as i just dont have the time.

proud to say i can now ride 10-12km without feeling knackered at all, so 20km rides are now the go to really get the blood pumping... and the last session out on the water (in 20+knots and 3ft chop), my legs weren't too stuffed by the end of it.

+1 for healthier eating, more exercise, thus kiting for longer!!

Well, got all my stuff again.

Since the last time I posted I've been running round my local field a bit, and I've managed to lose 2.5Kgs since last time also!

Go me :)

Sadly don't have new kite yet to fly with but working on that

Listen to Dr Orynoco!!!!

Get one large cup of cement and drink it down, this should harden you up a little!!!!!!!!!!!

Mix in some Viagra with the cement for that extra Hardness

Went out for a good sesh yesterday, started around 11 and packed up about 4.

Only had an hour of downtime total as I was lending out my ion3 (sweet kite btw) to others wanting a go. Besides managing a kiteloop and some other things, I didn't feel all that tired till right at the end of the day after I got home. Although I'm feeling a little sore now it's nothing major.

Also found I'm down to 83Kgs/13Stone so I'm almost at my target!

Just need to get ou more often and unhook more, which I did do a fair bit of yesterday.
