doc Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Just wondering if anyone's been brave or stupid enuf to go out in this weather. Down here in south wales its blowing between 30 and 55 mph and its a nwn. If it would come round to a W i would have nipped down Abber doesn't like any north really. u can manage a smidge but with the wind being as mean as this there are two things saying don't go out. i gave it a long hard look from the online wind meter reading and each time there were reasons to say no even with a 7m waroo in tow. So its a nono for me. Just wondering if anyone's gone to broughton or gennith and got out today? Cheers. Quote
CoyoteBoy Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I was thinking of yesterday, but this morning the giant red arrows across XC said NO! Quote

dave1986 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I went out this morning at aberavon. Nice and sunny, pushing 40mph, on my 8m Raven. Got some nice jumps goin, but shame there wernt many big waves to launch off. Mainly 3-4ft'ers. Wicked session though, i'd of stayed out longer but i gotta revise for an exam 2mro:( Quote

jonathand Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 tried putting my 9m up in my local park to dry it off, big mistake, 30 gusting up to 40, i could just stand up, but i took it up once, then brought it to the side and single landed it, was a bit knarly. i wish i had my 5m waroo, but thats on its way for next winter Quote

rush Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 A crowd showed up at Rest Bay but all decided not to kite, partly cos such a good day yesterday I think. Agree with you doc It was just too gusty really Quote
kinny Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 were a few out yesterday at fleetwood braving it and my mate on a 1.2 sting! lol, he's hooked now , spent just under £300 within ten mins of putting the sting down! Quote
lester Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 yup, did a 6am dawnpatrol in southend today, home by 9:30 for mothers day. Wind mid 30's mph & ******* rain, max gust was 45ish on sheppy webcam. Flat shallow water, pretty fun for the handful that ventured out as long as you had a decent small kite, was a great "huckfest". Skullfish Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 I was this close to trucking up to Gwithian on Saturday to landboard with me 5m speed, 40+mph onshores would have meant high speeds would have been mine. No-one else was up for it though, no chance I was going out on my own. Poo. Quote
g0nz01599968659 Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 Yeah, kite surfin saturday... LIT on 6m foil, big wind swell. Jumps were fast and huge but going sooo far downwind:rolleyes: Sunday - SEKA fly-in on buggy and board. Sotonmet reading 50knots at 11o'clock and again at 3... mostly between 30-40mph gusty wind. Bit over powered on 2m fury:D Top laugh! Loads of lines snapped by other people (I was using 500lb lines on a 2m...) and a 3m kite got trashed. Most sensible people opted not to fly:D Quote
simonmcc Posted March 19, 2007 Report Posted March 19, 2007 I'm not sure what the windspeed was at Castlerock today, but it was difficult to walk, or stand. Needless to say the kites stayed in the bag Quote
