natty Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 on a bit of a budget for a buggy, around £200-300. i have done alot of reading on this site and cant make my mind up as lots of cons have come to light about both buggys that i am thinking of getting. PL comp or typhoon mk2 both i can get for about £200 i will dismantle the bug after rech sesh Would like to buy new thanks Quote
Frakke1599968664 Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 You should consider your progression... I started with a PLXRcomp so no probs with that ~ till I jumped the A$$ off it and it didn't last very long even with reinforcements... Of the two you list I would say the typhoon easy (well hands down actually) as a "proper investment" as it will do more for you in the future than the PL I'm on flexi now so consider a second hand flexi as an option as well (or even a new one at just over £300) as they dismantle easily after a sesh too there may be some in the sales section on here or try ebay (even just for a look ) F:D Quote
LetoII Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I'm with Frakke, check out the for sale section, theres some flexi bugsgoing reasonable prices and tey'll be far better IMHO. I've never looked back after getting rid of my PL comp. If you're determined to not have a flexi for some strange reason then go for the typhoon, but I've heard some horror stories about them as well. Quote
kite geek Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 I would get a a PL comp like mine, they are superb and they are good because you can take em to bits really fast and put them back togeter really fast. Quote

Or kep your eyes peeled for a 2nd hand flexi Quote
Dick.tracy Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 If you are starting out, don't disregard the very cheap, very collapsible Radsails - pick one up secondhand, learn your craft, then decide your route. I did that(well, bought a new one) then decided to cruise rather than race or freestyle. I sold the Radsails for a small loss, and bought an RS with wide axle and Midi wheels. A solid cruiser, although not very collapsible. Easily fits on roof bars though. Quote
mrbig Posted December 6, 2006 Report Posted December 6, 2006 If you want to jump go for a flexi.... If not.....your choice.. You do sit on a flexi rather than in it... Pl xr comp is a lot better than the pl comp.... Quote

icualice2 Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Having recently joined the buggy game, I have purchased an RS BUGGY and wouldn't change it for the world. Jason Quote
faceman Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 i have got a mk1 typhoon but i paid nearer 500 for it new, good strong stable buggy v. comfortable good turning circle, if you can get a mk2 for 300 go for it dude!! Quote
faceman Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 by the way the typhoons dont collapse very easily if you must break it down to go home, so i use a bike rack and stick it on there, saves you having to line your boot with plastic or hoover the sand out every week. Quote
rayens Posted December 7, 2006 Report Posted December 7, 2006 Before you think about Typhoons do a search on here for them - lots of background info you will deffo want to know about Quote
natty Posted December 7, 2006 Author Report Posted December 7, 2006 thanks for the advice all, i think im going to go for the typhoon as for the money it seem to be the best i can get, im only gonna use it for fun and crusing as i mostly landboard. i really want something with good back support and the pl comp does not have this and im not to keen on the rs buggy. i know flexi is prob the best but just can afford the price tag!! Quote
eeyore Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 have a look on the for sale bit, you newver know you might find one (and ebay!) Quote
LetoII Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Make sure you read up on the typhoon before purchasing. IIRC there was some issues with QC and a bad batch went out that had a lot of failures. Make sure you don't get lumbered with a dud! If it sjust cruising you want then definitely check out the RS before you buy. For the money they're an excellent cruiser with lots of happy people. Quote
greensurfer Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 I'm a happy person ...very pleased with price/quality/looks, also seems very strong. Quote
mrmawalker Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Theres 2 TyphoonII's on Ebay right now, £200!!!! £10 Delivery... Quote

holdtight Posted December 14, 2006 Report Posted December 14, 2006 thanks for the advice all, i think im going to go for the typhoon as for the money it seem to be the best i can get....................... i know flexi is prob the best but just can afford the price tag!! I have a modded Flexi and a MKi Typhoon - for rattling up and down the beach the Typhoon wins hands down every time. The quality issues were only with a few MKiis and unfortunately the rumour & gossip mill gave it a bad name. The result is that you can now but a brand new £450 quality buggy for £200 ...... you can't loose! HT Quote
