Kitedeck Kid Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 my kites broke i got a 3.5m rebble was happily in the air then came down to the ground with a sudden bump. looked at my kite and found that where the brake likes attatch to the kite. (the bit where it fans out) have ripped out from the kite. Is it worth repairing or can it b repaired. Will post pics soon Quote
andrewlcblueyo Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Most things can be repaired pretty well as far as I can tell although have never needed to personally (yet). Flexi are very good so I hear but I suppose it would help if it was a Flexi kite! Quote
shrimpo Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I fixed a 2.5m Rebble, it was in 1/2 when I got it, I mean two pieces, most of the bridle had ripped out of one half of the wing, and had rips top & bottom + some rib dammage. It was a challenge to put back together, but it is still going after a year, and I even had my fastest speed on the bug with this kite 42 mp/h. So, with a bit of time and effort, yep you can repaire a kite. Shrimpo Quote
Kitedeck Kid Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 most of the bridle had ripped out of one half of the wing, Shrimpo thats whats happend to mine, how you repair it. did you have to stitch it in Quote
shrimpo Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 thats whats happend to mine, how you repair it. did you have to stitch it in most of the bridle attatchment tapes that fit between the cells had ripped out, some were just U/S, so had to be replaced, others were OK. Un-stitch the section where the tape had been, you will find a little marker hole (about 2mm) in the material, this is the center of were the tape should be. If the tape is OK, I put it back, and stitched it in with a few runs, make sure you run the stitching a fair way past the tape point. Some of mine required sail tape adding to the ribs, as they had ripped as well, get it from a boat shop, or powerkite shop. Shrimpo Quote
oc1rob Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I recently had a kite repaired by Cygnus sails in Kettering, they fixed a stress split on both LE corners of my PL Venom 16. Did a great job and it was back with me within 5 days. Quote
