Well done flexi I say - I have an Ion and love it and have no issue with the atom or Ion 2 coming and I will still love going out on my Ion this time next year!

With designs advancing so rapidly, I'd rather a company bring out a next-gen / improved kite as soon as they have it (which will benefit the kiters) rather than sweat out as much money as they can from an existing design.

Well done flexi for keeping up the R&D and bringing out new kites when they can, rather than when demand is dieing on existing lines.

Are there definite prices on this yet? Might help establish this kite's position (ie. alongside or below the Ion)

Price for 12m should be £829 this is not arelacement for the ION more a sister kite as Flexi puts it.

The Ion 2 will be out early next year and be a higher performance kite & no doubt not so user friendly as the Ion 1

Its very nice to fly, was out last night on the 12, slightly slower speed than the ION, Again has all the features of the ion.

Hi Craig in Norwich, Was this a demo Kite or have you got your hands on one already??? where from??

I find it pretty funny that folk instantly sell their kites when the newest model comes out - come on, a Strike is still a brilliant kite for 99% of kitesurfers.

Suits me, I'm thinking of getting an LEI, and if folk are selling old ones dirt cheap 'cos they're "rubbish" then it suits me. Anyone who has seen my wetsuit knows I'm not picky about gear that has been broken in.... ;)

Surely what devalues kites the most is over production ? Like when earlier this year you could buy a new 04/05 Naish V4 complete for £299 due to over production buy Naish. Why buy a second hand C kite with that kind of deal ?

By doing small production runs of the ion (which has now ceased production I understand) surely it stops this kind of deal which undermines second hand prices.

The next production run is then with enhancements - whether rebadged or not (ie 1st generation v. 2nd generation sonics with improved reinforcing).

I'm fine with this provided flexi get the kites in the shops - I wanted an ion but never got one coz my local shop sold all its stock before it came in so they never had a demo kite to try before I buy.

When I told everyone to sell their Ions cos flexi were bringing out a kite that would devalue the ion I was called a bell end...

Now look what we have here? An Ion but cheaper.

This is an Atom thread (stop the nauseating Best pimping)

I was told by a flexi employee that the Atom would be £100-150 cheaper than the ion but just as good! I guess they realised what a big mistake that would be..or they could not make one with the margins needed.

Talking of margins I hear you are selling the Waroo £100 CHEAPER than your 'fellow' Best dealer extremekites??????????

I went out on a 9m Atom yesterday and thought it was great, felt really confident on it, it just makes you want to try new things. I fly Fusions which are great and have tried the Ion a couple of times but didn't get on with it, I went out expecting not to get on with The Atom as I thought it wud be the same as The Ion but it wasn't, it flys more like my Fusion than the Ion but feels safer. I cant give explanations about why or how as I just fly wot feels right.
