doddy Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 hi ash welcome to the forums! here is where you will now spend most of you time from when there is no wind!
flysurfer1080 Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 Yo pieface, good to see you on here @ last......
flysurfer1080 Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Yo peps, Friday could be a session with a Northley, after 7:00 because of the tide - who's doing what where?
pieface Posted August 12, 2008 Report Posted August 12, 2008 Dunno bout you guys - but do you find that sites like windfinder and bbc are bull****ing to us this week to put us off?? Went out this afternoon knowing that i had seen forecast southerlies for today but found a pretty constant WNW wind today @ 20mph. so off i went home from work and lugged the gear to the beach on my own. Had a great couple of hours til it chucked it down and dave turned up wanting to play. who's up for it tmoz???? weather prevailing of course?
bangbus Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 www.vansurf.co.uk or http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=13581. You don't need a VW but if you do come you may end up getting one. 09 Ocean Rodeo kit to demo List your name here or email if you want to go.
Nemesis Posted August 17, 2008 Report Posted August 17, 2008 Am I not right but isn't there usually a powerkite ban on Blackrock Easter until October ?????? It would appear not ! I'd make sure the council have given permission for kites as well as VW's BNJ
gavw Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Total ban of kiters/buggies + boards until October usually - but kitesurfers can use the beach all year round me thinks Maritime office are very approachable so maybe they have special dispensation ?????
bangbus Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Yes before organising this meet i did speak to the council. and as long as ever one follows the rules set out they are happy to allow the meet. The meet area will be marked out and everyone must stay in that area. The amount of buggies must be controlled to allow beginners fly area and launch zone for kiteboarders to enter the water. depending on how busy the beach is that weekend depends on how large the area is. buggies to fly close to the waters edge and at no time must anyone launch/fly or lay lines across the sand road. There should be enough time a space for everyone to have fun. If you have any questions PM me. Hope to see you there.
Nemesis Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Well Done Bangbus - good effort Fingers crossed it all goes well and everybody respects the rules.
FO Kite Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 uuhhmm ............. sounds interesting ................ where's the calendar F/O Kite
Plezzy Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 ......and what are the tides doing that weekend? please don't say 'coming in and then going out!'
FO Kite Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Saturday ............ low tide 2.40 pm ......... 1.13m Sunday .............. low tide 3.30 pm ......... 0.94m Now all we need is the wind F/O Kite
Nemesis Posted August 18, 2008 Report Posted August 18, 2008 Saturday ............ low tide 2.40 pm ......... 1.13m Sunday .............. low tide 3.30 pm ......... 0.94m Now all we need is the wind F/O Kite Not too much wind though as we'll be on a ferry to Ireland cos thats the start of the Waveriders trip and the last trip had gale force storms for the ferry crossing. Chris1981 Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Hi all, just signed upto the forums - some good info - nice one! Does anyone know of any inland venues in North Wales! Tides are bummer and need to get out more! Cheers Guys
SandMonster Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 On behalf of bangbus, it looks like buggying/landboarding *is* going to be limited on the vansurf event, possibly down as low as 10 buggies/boards out at any one time So please don't come thinking its going to be a land users free-for-all - it's primarily a kitesurf event with the possibility of a few people demo-ing trying out land-based kiting.
bartiebat1599968741 Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Another 6 weeks man!! :( :( :( :(
flysurfer1080 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Another 6 weeks man!! Not surprised Mike Check Out C5 5th Gear - Tom razzing round in the latest VW Scirocco at BRS and whose that in the backgound in Buggys and TP on his Board along with a chap using a Powered Para Glider as part of the article - very special permission to fly on the beach on a weekday. ( I think it's on the telly in Sept.) BNJ
Flower Power Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Dave, Chris and I might join you about 7ish, we tried Rhyl last night but way too much soft sand and standing water and not enough wind, was that you out last night at Ffrith?
bartiebat1599968741 Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 How was last night folks? Wind looked pretty special if it wasn't too soft? Let us know if you go to Rhossy on Monday
flysurfer1080 Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 Wind was fantastic, its just a shame it was full of ww2 bomb holes on every bay & felt like a semi hard slush puppy beach It was avg. around 18-23mph but died off a little towards the end of the night. I had mega fun flying the 16mtr VI of Craig's, its such a gurd toy.. Was a bit iffy at 1st because I had a mishap with a 15mtr guerilla I & use to throw me everywhere & the VI was just totally different - did my longest floatyest jump & landed it & then dodged the holes - wahoooo go me. Over all every one had a good time & learnt that little bit more & had a natter & a laf, the only 1 problem was......you guys where missing!! There was some guy flyin a green VII in the other bay towards Rhyl, did not have a clue who he was, he turned up in the car park with a smart blue VW Transporter (think it was that) he said ello to us in the car park & that was it. If blue van man is on here, don't be scared to come over - we do not bite.. & there was a buggy flyer think with a blue & red 4.5 bullet - did not have a clue who he was..
