Blethyn Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 Might sound a bit odd but what do you guys wear onn your feet when jumping? I just wear trainers but i keep twisting my ankles. Do you guys wear trainers or boots of some sort? Might just have to get myself an ankle support. Quote
muffy Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 I wear Airwalk trainers. I used to wear walking boots or similar but found they had too much grip when you're been dragged across a field or beach. Quote
Robabank Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 worn out trainers!!! great for scudding/trashing Quote
Blethyn Posted September 19, 2005 Author Report Posted September 19, 2005 Can you have too much grip when jumping? Are boots better at supporting your ankles? Quote
Robabank Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 boots will probably help but you need to get your timing right when jumping,if you do you should have the kite up at the zenith by the time your in the air, this should make you have a softer landing!!(with practice) where do you fly? on shore wind the best if on the coast ,clean & consistent. stay away from buildings/trees if poss it all helps. skreamz Posted September 19, 2005 Report Posted September 19, 2005 cut holes in a couple of plastic lemonade bottles and stick your feet in them ....great for scudding .... super slippy.... you can even give them a "designer" look with some felt-tip pens Quote
Blethyn Posted September 19, 2005 Author Report Posted September 19, 2005 love the lemonade bottle idea! lol. This summer i have been flying in hertfordshire where i live but im off back to uni in portsmouth in a couple of weeks. Good clean consistent wind. Cant wait Have not yet had the chance to fly my 4.9 meter blade in portsmouth. Should be an experience Quote

L C Sulla Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 AH ! I have the answer - Go-Carting boots you know the race track stag party sort. These boots are completely slick on the base, so great for scudding & landing fast & have vercro ankle support. Remember your heard it here first. Quote
dogger26 Posted September 22, 2005 Report Posted September 22, 2005 I use wooden Clogs imported from Denmark, with a good varnish there real fast. Quote
Blethyn Posted September 22, 2005 Author Report Posted September 22, 2005 think i might swap my feet for furniture casters. Might not be too good on sand though Quote
cassiewoofer Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 Biggest stomping mountain boots i could get hold of in oxfam. Got two pairs A beautiful pair of stiff soled la Sportiva's designed to take crampons (£9.99 ), i use mainly for paragliding due to extreme sole stiffness. And a beautiful pair of all leather Zamberlan mountain boots, never done an ankle since! Quote
metal_snapper1599968645 Posted September 23, 2005 Report Posted September 23, 2005 I used to wear boots......now I wear skate shoes........work great for me:D Quote
CeeJay Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 I've wrecked a couple of pairs of skate shoes that had some grip on the soles. The soles split on the heels and it flaps about rendering them useless for anything other than gardening. In fact, the best trainers I have are the pair that I used to use for gardening They too are a pair of old Vans that the soles wore down so much that there is no grip on them at all. God knows how the uppers managed to survive being skated, long enough for the soles to get within a micron of wearing through. I like the karting boot idea, its gotta be pretty tough to find sturdy boots that don't have much grip on the soles. Do karting boots have enough support on the uppers though? and how long would they last, they don't look like they are built for this kinda stuff. Quote
roritor Posted September 24, 2005 Report Posted September 24, 2005 i use my old adidas hightops great ankle support and such slippy soles! Quote
Blethyn Posted September 24, 2005 Author Report Posted September 24, 2005 where can you get karting boots from and more importantly how expensive are they? Quote
