squidrunmegzy28 Posted January 28, 2008 Author Report Posted January 28, 2008 cheers for your reply max, i had been looking into the Asterisk braces, and glad to say that there is a new set in the mail with my name on them....looking foward to picking these babies up and strapping them on and see how comfortable they make me feel.... if anyone is interested, there is a stack of them on ebay for around $650 delivered... tried a set on in a perth moto x store, they were asking $1200... well were the time to track them down online i say....i would only suggest to try on a set before ordering so you know what size would be sufficient... regards, squidrun Quote
skiddz Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 Try a wakeboarding knee brace... Knee injuries are the most common injury in wakeboarding, so they're the ones that are going to work well... Try http://www.fulltilt.com.au/shop.php?mode=view&i=1767&PHPSESSID=bafd9... Quote
SHEPPO3930 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 yes the only ones i found on the market were the wakeboarding style braces. i use to work for a medical company that designed and sold rehab equipment, and i thought at the time, the wakeboarding items were the go. i have weak knees from years of downhill skiing and snowboarding, riding motocross & BMX, and a kinda serious accident at work where i was unable to walk without a strapped knee and/or brace for about 2 months! i've found the best remedy is exercise, and lots of it. it's taken me about 18 months to get my knees up to a level i can kiteboard loaded up and not give in due to pain. lately i've been trying wall sits to improve the muscle stamina, and loads of walking (not running due to joint impact!) i can now kite for about 2-3 hours in choppy conditions with no strapping on my knees. as long as i dont twist my knees, they hold up well... a bit sore the day after... but well none the less! I have had one for approx 18 months, has given me back the ability to kiite for hours with littel to no pain and swelling. Mine was custom made due to advance osteo and degeneration of my left knee, cost was just under $1000, worth every cent!! http://www.gallbrosmedical.com.au/ Quote
