sbrazier Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Guys and girls I'm looking to get my first buggy, (currently on my board) Looking to have this try so not looking to spend lots of cash, i do have a bad back from time to time so a abit of support won't go a miss... Any thoughts on the Eolo? and the PL Comp std as they are the cheapest, or what would be a good 2nd hand one to look out for.... Quote
Jabberwock Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Both the eolo and the PL Comp will bend fairly quickly. Id go with what Chris says - Flexi if your tricking - Libre if you are Cruising Libre Vmax has better back support than either and there are a few around second hand at the minute Quote

Husky_Joe Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I dont my lower back in a few years back, and i still sufer with it. Avoid PL Comp, the support, well there isnt any. You could always upgrade the seat. I've got a Flexi, nice support, great buggy. Libre, these are very comfy. Goto a shop and sit in them, or get into your mates and try them out. Quote
daft mick Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Just a thought from a different angle....... Be aware that you will have to store and transport whatever you get somehow. If you buy one of the "smaller" buggys you will be ok with a cycle rack on your car. Bigger race type buggys with wider axles are a different matter... Similar issues with storage to consider as well. Mick Quote
rayens Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I reckon this one is a superb first bug - good build and about the same price as the PL BUT SO MUCH STRONGER WINDRAGON BUGGY Quote
Badger Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Flexi is strong, built to last, stainless, and fits in the car (comes apart easily). I've still got a brand spanking new one for sale, click within my sig. Steve. Quote

Storage wise, do what I do, and use your Fathers Garage/shed! :D Quote

It can stay there all week when I'm at work, and nobody would know. If th ewind picks up and I'm on my way home, I'm ready to rock:D . Can you do that? Steve. Quote
Paul Westlake Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 It only takes me 15 minutes to put the bug on the car and pack all the usual stuff. Quote
Sand-Yeti Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 Avoid PL. it will make your life miserable. Consider: Libre Flexi Cameleon Iguana Eliot Virus All good buggies Sand-Yeti Quote
lewiss Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 flexi all the way, p lynn buggy is good but not as stong or as easy to get up on 2 wheels. Quote
splatbucket Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 indead, the diference between a pl and a flexi is incredible, you can pick up a flexi for about £190 if you get it right and they are really nice buggys, also have some back support, unlike the pl's Quote
Frakke1599968664 Posted August 12, 2005 Report Posted August 12, 2005 Take it from me I got my first buggy at Xmas 04 PL XR comp.... Started jumping recently and was a bit "over zealous" last night and past the 8' mark now I have a bent rear axle, a twisted front fork and a few busted clips on the seat... Now looking for a good welder for a comression bar and forks supports till I can save for something better (guess it will be flexi then) Frakke Quote
sbrazier Posted August 16, 2005 Author Report Posted August 16, 2005 mmm flexi looking popular, want something that is a good all rounder.. cheers for the input people... Quote
kitemadgoth Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 personally I dont and have never had a prob with my pl comp useable and cheap I do agree though that the flexi is a better bug Quote
Junior Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 ahh but goth, u dont do freestyle do u? and ive never even seen u buggy Quote
maxlevens Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 I reckon our pl XR goes faster than a flexi on a given run as it is way lighter. Granted it does break fairly easy and rattles a fair bit but when its working it does pretty good. Its not the most comfy of buggys and has little back support but u could buy a backrest for it there is plenty on the forums about them. Ive found them easier for freestyle than the flexis as the headset is really loose for really hard turns and is proficiently wieghted that it will lock and start a slide. Also I find the padded side rails help when learning to two wheel as you can jam your elbow in for extra leverage. Flexis are better made but I think on my XR and on my friends flexi, Id do better freestyle and speed on the XR. Quote

I can go along with all that happily under normal circumstances but tossed mine for six the other night in the park and was all set on a new Flexibug for freestyling... My PL XR comp with wide wheel options was fairly good at speed and freestyle loved it to bits but it didn't like the coming down from 8 feet in the air (maybe it was my fat a$$ too) Now looking for a good welder for a comression bar and forks supports till I can save for something better (guess it will be flexi then) I have now found a local engineering company who have voulenteered to ressurect the PL for me = full straightening of the rear axle + compression bar sraightening of the front forks too with some extra stiffening thrown in should look like Ben Hur's chariot by Thursday then I will be a happy chap again if that works out (could say PL XR rocks but that may still be an overstatement) Frakke:cool: Quote
kitemadgoth Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 junior true i dont do freestyle but that aint the point still a cheap reliable bug and u aint seen me in it cos the mrs dont like and i quote "carting the stupid thing all that way for possibly nothing" women who would av em Quote
