Jonesing4Wind Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 My youngest always wants to fly with me, but has only flown 1 liners so far. I thought about stunt kites, but they lack durability. ANy ideas?/ 0.7 meter buster, or another option? sean Quote
belblade Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 My littley has only ever flown single lines kites but she has only just turned three..........You should have heard her when i took the kite back. Im gonna have to watch out as i might just lose my kites to her in a few years. Quote

Henry Primett Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 My brother is jsut about 9 and gets on well with the 3m buster, he is around 4.2 stone so a tad heavier bit gives an idea, he also uses a harnes with it most of the time Quote
tttonyyy1599968643 Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 Interesting thread - thinking of getting a little kite for my 5-year-old daughter. Quote

jamesmarley Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 My brothers kids use an ozone imp (ok only 2 lines but still fun). Whilst the 0.7 Buster probably looks ok on paper they are pretty evil things (I keep mine in the car for flying whenever I go anywhere), really fast and it takes some practice to get used to it. Hope that helps;) Quote
The BFG Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Hi there, My 6 year old use an 0.7 imp (bomb proof )without any trouble at all, but watch out, he's v big for his age and flying at WSM on the beach with the wind up around 20mph I find I have to hold him around the middle. But it has taught him all the basics he needs to know for flying;) . Have seen the Buzz and it looks very similar just a few more £££££ Quote
madadz Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 My 4 year old son has got a Ozone imp (1.4 if i remember right). Just right up to 15 mphish . Its good to teach, while you hold one line and counteract his movements, because it still gives them the buzz of controling a kite, and a little tug! he loves it! he wants to come out with me every time i go now!! Jules B. Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 http://www.advance-kites.com/mikro.htm could be fun Quote
thegman89 Posted May 25, 2005 Report Posted May 25, 2005 Try one of the new flexifoil sting's. They are great for younger people and those learning to fly, they about £90 I believe. Quote

The sting is a 4 line trainer kite, and a lot more power for a little 4 year old to handle. And imagine how tangled up it would get. C'mon - Buzz or Imp. Steve. Quote
PhilN Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 I went thru a similar thing last year. Bought a few little HQ kites, .7 and a 1.5 or something like. Trouble is, they move like rockets, really hard to fly.... The 0.7 especialy, doesn't pull, fair enough but just blasts from edge to edge like a missile and needs a really light touch. I literally fly it with my forefingers only so's not to rough it up too much.... What we need is a small slooow kite that littlies can actually fly. Even the small two liners I've got are as bad..... any suggestions in the sub £50-00 bracket?? Quote
spooky Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Ozone Imps 05, yes they aresmall and as such will flyfast, but liekteh rest of the Ozone range they do fly smoothly, so you do not get that sudden "lucrch" forward as they acclerate? Mind you the sort of winds a child willbe flying them in it will not be a problem. Also they are very stable so very easy to just sit at the Zenith and just move gentley left an dright (good pratcie for a child/novice), unliek some smallkites which tend to twich/dancy about even with no imput? May have a 2m/L Imp at Wallop? Jon Quote
cassiewoofer Posted May 26, 2005 Report Posted May 26, 2005 Having 'trained' rather introduced some particularly inept mates to kiting i think it would be a good idea to start with two lines. Don'k know if the 0.7 buster will fly on two, probably. Otherwise a 6ft stacker's a good intro, my mate's 5yr old learnt on a pro team 8 Quote
BlackBravo Posted May 28, 2005 Report Posted May 28, 2005 and the hotshot. 4tf flexi, my cousins and little peeps i know love them, Quote
gsmarty Posted May 29, 2005 Report Posted May 29, 2005 7m bullet ha ha no I got a stacker 6 when I was about 9 and I remember being dragged around on the grass with it so wouldn't recommend it Quote
