I've seen 40m lines available and wondered what the difference would be if I used them with my stackers instead of the standard 30m ones. Has anyone tried it? I'd imagine that the kites would be slower (?) but would there be more pull from the wider arc?

With Stackers, longer lines are better I think. Stackers generate their power from moving, so if you can make them arc across a larger window, the power's going to be a little larger, but a lot longer lasting.

I put 11M extensions on today(Total 36M now), incredible is all I can say.

I was able to get lift(wife says about 2 feet) in almost no wind with a zero lift kite, I did make a slight mod to the briddle, dont think that is it, or maybe it's both, too little wind to test it all out.

I fly inland btw.

Wind was the usual crap we get, I forgot my watch at my parents house when I was visiting there last weekend so didn't measure, but to put a guess on it, I would say on the ground less than 6mph.

Kite's a LD 9M.

I fly my stackers on 40m lines but since I only fly them in reasonably high winds I find them too long and unresponsive. Too much bend in them from the wind means that they don't fly so well imho. Thinking about putting them on 20m lines so they fly faster:eek: but then they'll probably dump me on the beach in a big pile of bruises:rolleyes:

Also depends how you stack the kites and how many you have - mine stack beyond the 40m so this makes the top kite close to 45m away, might be better if I stacked on the main lines to make the furthest kite 40m...but I need some time at the beach to play - when the weather gets a bit warmer:D

60m lines i think your wasting yuor time a traction kite can only be flown on 40m max lines to get any extra power. any longer will increase drag and slow it down like an oil tanker.and slow your braking response which is dangerous i know coz i've tried it and have the sprains/bruises +face plants to prove it.

My stacker came with 35m lines which are fine..... and I just got some 30m lines for my 4.0m. Where I fly this should put the kite well above the trees at the end of the field and nicely in the clean air. If I had longer lines in this field I think the runs would be too short so I don't see the need for them however on a wide open beach who knows would have to remember to allow lots of extra time to brake though unless the kite is on top of the power window

I think Stackers work quite well on longer lines. I saw a couple of people flying a 3 stack on 60m lines, and they were getting some good jumps from them. They were managing to hit much cleaner and constant air, while us buggiers were having a bit of trouble with gusty dirty air on our 30m lines. The longer lines will give you a much bigger wind window too.

I have a 7.2m Jackfoil on 35m lines, and it is quite a noticable difference to my 9m blade which is on 25m lines. The 35m lines help get to the cleaner air above the treeline, and it is a lot smoother and more constant.

I've tried my eight and tens on 30m lines and it was cr4p! do try it 'cos you can only learn by doing stuff yourself but after that experience won't bother again! I'll definately try 50m and maybe even 60 with the HYPER 12, like you say though, experimenting isn't something you wanna do when it's winter!

just attaching a new set of colour coded flexi lines to the blade 4m was a chore and a half that i nearly didn't do.

They've gotta make some ultra-thin grippy / insulating gloves one day, though i think the laws of physics and thermodynamics suggest it will be impossible!
