anything Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 The first post in this thread shows that the Flexi scoreboard is at www.powerballs.com/flexifoil Calum's still winning, (of course), but I'm 2nd now. My older-style 250Hz ball is still going strong, and when I'm on form I can extract 13,000 revs from it just about most times. I'm looking on eBay to get another though, because mine is starting to grate, and the inner surface is wearing down quite badly. I'm reluctant to get one of the newer ones though, as my older one has a lighter action and is faster than a newer ball! go for a new ball, im sure you will be able to get a better score with one of them i've had mine for a while now, and it still sounds fine, even after all those high scores:D Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 go for a new ball, im sure you will be able to get a better score with one of themDoubtful. I did have two new models of the 250Hz ball, which I bought people for presents for Christmas. Obviously I had to try them out, but they were consistently a few hundred revs slower than my 250Hz, which is an older model. I know that the Powerballs do tend to speed up with continued use though. When I give mine a good clean it's a lot slower for a few hours worth of use, then it speeds up again. Not sure why. And after a long session, (several hours), it does get really, REALLY smooth. (It's a recommended way to remove any roughness.) So perhaps a brand new ball is in order. Akis says it's good to have one to practice with, and one to hit the high scores with. Play.com here I come. (I want an Amber one though! They're always quickest!!) EDIT : Giving eBay a try first...bidding on a 250Hz and a Neon again! The Neon from Powerballs.com though, not a Power-balls.com one. Huge difference! Quote

Adrena1in Posted April 7, 2005 Author Report Posted April 7, 2005 KEEP getting outbid on eBay. Was watching a proper Neon stuck at £11 yesterday (I'd bid £14), right up to 10 seconds before the end. My connection at home is so slow that it was taking 30 seconds per screen refresh. It went for £15. Now bidding £13 on one with no counter, (can get them free anyway), but if I lose that then I'll just get a new one from Play.com...won't be Amber though! Quote
anything Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 Akis has only gone and done it again this time it was 15552 with his left hand link to vid Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 10, 2005 Author Report Posted April 10, 2005 Blimey's he's just not giviing the rest of us a chance!! Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 11, 2005 Author Report Posted April 11, 2005 Bought an Amber 250Hz off eBay for £11.50, as my "spare"...probably for high revs runs. Have "rested" quite a bit lately, so I should be up for a monster session soon. P.S. Can anyone else do one-hand-finger-starts like Akis? It's quite easy really. P.P.S. Calum, you're down to 88th mate! Still a fine achievement, but don't let yourself disappear from the Top100, not now you've made "Flexifoil" known on there! Quote
The BFG Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Hi Adrena1in Taking a rest has got to be the answer, I was stuck on 12700 for a few weeks, then this weekend picked it up for the first time in day and first go got 12800:rolleyes: Going to start some of your tactics soon ie more endurence than just high scores. Has certainly helped in what I wanted it for! I was struggling to keep the left break on when landing and now (unless its blowing a gale) a manage it most times! Whats you high score currently? Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 11, 2005 Author Report Posted April 11, 2005 My problem is I can't rest completely. I just find I pick up mine most of the time I'm mooching about at home and I spin it gently, but usually can't resist having a quick blast. My current record is 13,215. Did this one Saturday morning, after I beat all my endurance records. I can always get over 12,500 now, and if I work hard at it I can usually manage 13k+ every time...with both hands too! But I am finding my records creeping up slower and slower. Quote
The BFG Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 I can normaly hit 12200 12300 every time with my right and mid 11's with my left, but not so often, little or no flexibility in my left had:rolleyes: . been stuck on 12767 for weeks though and then Sat morn told to put it away by the wife cos the kids were going to use it to play football with and gave it a quick squeeze and up popped 12830:eek: . Where'd that come from? so got the bug again now going for 13000 before the weekend! Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 11, 2005 Author Report Posted April 11, 2005 so got the bug again now going for 13000 before the weekend! If you can keep it going at about 10k for ten or fifteen minutes, until like you feel your arm's going to fall off, then rest for around half an hour, then pick it up for a "squeeze", I wouldn't be at all surprised if you top 13k. Still a fine achievement, but don't let yourself disappear from the Top100, not now you've made "Flexifoil" known on there! the amber balls do go faster;) i have tried the one finger start, but have never managed it, i just roll it along my arm to start it i've been trying really hard to get into the 14k's but it just isnt happening, usually get to 13.7 on a good run but i will try again tomorrow, as i will have a couple of hours spare in the evening while watching the footie so you will see flexifoil in the top 100 for a while yet (hopefully), but i have only dropped 7 places in 2 months, so that score should be good for about 4 months - plenty of time for me to beat it:D Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 11, 2005 Author Report Posted April 11, 2005 the amber balls do go faster;)But the older blue ones do go faster than the newer blue ones, and it's a new amber one I'm getting, so it might still be slower. Quote
denno17 Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 Just got mine and i've got a pb of 10328. I do belive i've got a long way to get up to 15k and my arm is bloody killing me. Quote
denno17 Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 whoo hoo now 10512 getting better very slowly Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 12, 2005 Author Report Posted April 12, 2005 Keep it up Denno...in two or three months you might be topping twelve or thirteen thousand! (Takes time!) I've just taken delivery of my Amber 250Hz...tomorrow evening I'll see how fast I can get it! EDIT : Aha, the mentality of eBay dealers strikes again...it's a blue Powerball he sent me, not an amber one! How is it that something so bl00dy simple as checking the box for its contents before delivering it seems to be too much for some people!! Can't be ar$ed to send it back and wait for another...that's just going to cost me. If I can catch Calum up with a non-amber ball then that'll really be something!! Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 13, 2005 Author Report Posted April 13, 2005 First go with the non-Amber 250Hz this morning - 12519. That was straight after a 12.2k with my "fast" 250Hz, and with no warm-ups or anything. Watch out Calum, if I hit form, and can do 300 or 400 more revs with my new ball, I might be pressuring you. (You won't be used to that sort of competition!!) EDIT : Still doesn't make as nice a noise as my old one...new ones are so quiet! Oh yeah, and Powerballs.com can't just send me a counter. No worries, only need the one. Quote
anything Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 i tried to beat my record yesterday, and after and hour of endurance runs, i went for a high score i didnt get a better score but i can so close with 13789 i wil try again tonight, and hopefully my records will be broken Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 13, 2005 Author Report Posted April 13, 2005 Sometimes, after an hour of endurance I can still achieve 13k. Sometimes after only ten minutes of endurance my arms just die and I can't even do 12k. It's weird. Quote
mike c Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 My first powerball, a neon blue, came with postie about 40 mins ago. Have only got a whisker under 9,000 at the moment. Does this mean I am a girl? I broke my wrist skateboarding years ago and I agravate it mountain boarding the whole time, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Quote
mike c Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 How long should I be able to keep it going for in one go? Quote
Adrena1in Posted April 16, 2005 Author Report Posted April 16, 2005 ...whisker under 9,000... Does this mean I am a girl? I broke my wrist skateboarding years ago and I agravate it mountain boarding the whole time, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.Once you get the rhythym, around 9k for a first go is about the norm. Will take a short while to attune the muscles into the type of movement necessary, and in time you'll be hitting 10 or 11k. Also, at first, most people can't go for more than 20 or 30 seconds before the muscles start to complain, but stick with it. Plus, at gentle speeds, 4 to 6k, it'll be great for helping rehabilitate your wrist. Seriously. I never get RSI anymore, I never get tennis elbow or a sore wrist from playing badminton. Powerballs are just the best gadget ever. Quote
mike c Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Cool, thanks for that Adrena1in, getting consistently over 9,000 now but want to hit 10k before I put it down. Quote
