zebedee Posted June 19, 2005 Report Posted June 19, 2005 anyone been out recently ? we made it over to borth the other weekend, the weather was good and the beach was even better. Managed to get a good few hours in the wind. Ifyourintrested the photos are here http://kite-mania.co.uk/gallery.htm Quote
TheBeast Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 yeah couple of days ago, sweet wind, nice and strong....not that gusty either...we go kiting over a school field now sumtimes...its good...hope to cya soon zeb Quote
FO Kite Posted June 25, 2005 Report Posted June 25, 2005 Hi there lads I was over Trysull this afternoon....do you still use that field? The grass seems pretty long...might have to buy a goat. I normally fly over at Shrewsbury but the council have closed down the site for construction work. I'm desparate for a fly. Have you got any other places..........someone was spotted at Penderford ...any idea where? F/O Kite Quote
.TheBeest. Posted June 25, 2005 Author Report Posted June 25, 2005 He mate We have been down Ounsdale High School recently, its much better than trysull for boarding but the grass isnt as clean as Trysull, the kids come out at break and leave there rubbish on the field. Its available after 4PM (school finishes at 3:40), ample parking for leasure centre facilities, and you can use it any time on the weekend. I dont know Penderford so I cant identify who was flying there. The field in Trysull is getting far too long, if you fly solo, then your screwed, its very hard to find somewhere to take off as the kite will just drag along the grass and the brakes catch the ground and you just cant take off. If yo fancy coming down then just wack a post on here and well sort something out. cya Quote
yerpal Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Hi chaps Bought the kite (peter lynn pepper 3.5M) and need a place to try flying it next Where do you all fly in the west mids? I'm in Harborne, south west Brum When I know what to look out for I will keep my eyes peeled when tooling around the countryside on the motorbike Also what kit do I need as well as the kite eg helmet etc... Oil post this as a new thread in case this thread died from neglect Quote
.TheBeest. Posted July 12, 2005 Author Report Posted July 12, 2005 This thread ul never die mate Do you know Wombourne/Trysull? weve been flying at Ounsdale field in Wombourne recently, its pretty big, with parking and when no-ones playing football on it its pretty sweet. Quote
yerpal Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 have a2z will travel I have a vague idea where you are and it's not too far for me... Past the crooked house, kingswinford/swindon area??? Do you have a post code or gps ref? Hoping to get out on sunday. Sutton park or Derby being are possibilities waiting to hear back if anyone else about, wouldn't mind a couple of safety(common knowledge) hints to start off with Cheers alan Quote
yerpal Posted July 13, 2005 Report Posted July 13, 2005 the wonders of mapsource No problem just off the A449 area to the west of Wombourne Let me know if anyone planning to be there Sunday Cheers Quote
.TheBeest. Posted July 13, 2005 Author Report Posted July 13, 2005 http://www.multimap.com/map/photo.cgi?client=public&X=387000&Y=293000&width=500&height=300&gride=&gridn=&srec=0&coordsys=gb&db=pc&pc=&zm=0&in.x=10&in.y=12&scale=25000 Thats the spot, post code WV5 8BJ. Come off the 449, take your 1st left and just follow the road past the traffic lights and turn in at the leasure center car park. As for hints and tips... Make sure you have lots of space downwind Always wear a helmet Wear pads (especially knee) when boarding Launch at the edge of the wiondow in strong winds Use Kite Killers, flexi do them best. That just a very quick basic list, but if you get serious about it theres much more to concider, but as your starting out that should do you. If you need anything else just let me know Quote

.TheBeest. Posted August 16, 2005 Author Report Posted August 16, 2005 Hows it going dude, naa i didnt buy it, im looking for something 2nd hand, thats a bit cheaper than £680, bud dude it was totally sweet, the wind wasnt that great but the kite is so smooth and turn beautifuly giving a nice steady pull, and thats when your depowerd... its just awesome. Its a good job you didnt come round today for kiting as the wind was utter ****e... id say 0-1mph. If theres no wind tommorow (Wednesday) then would you want to get out on the bike, thats push bike not motor , but if thers a nice wind im up for some kiting. Ill probobly give you a ring tommorow and sort some stuff out. As for worcester, its sounds good to me, anyone flyers in that area who know some good spots? or how about shrewsbury, shall we give that a go? Anyways ill speak to you soon. Heres a little something to rub in... Quote
SafeGaz Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Hi guys, Another west midlands flyer here. Noticed someone say something about Pendeford in a previous message. There are some good fields there, probably better for static flying though since the various goal posts arent the best! Another great place is just north of worcester, it has a decent kite shop there and a great open field ideal for boarding. Ther webby is http://www.extremekiteshop.com/kites/index.php. Post code WR6 6NH if you wanna check out where it is. Takes about 35 mins by car to get there. Quote
