DazDare2000 Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 I am a newbie who's just started boarding.Spent 2-3 mths trying to master my blade iii 4.9 -realised not ezy,now ive started boarding im struggling wiv my deck constantly turning left, now im trying&trying till my hearts content but still seem to turn left heel side and lose my wind? i cant stop it,as being an ole skool skater i thought it would be ezy but add a kite & im lost. Can anyone tell me where im going wrong? And am i the only one who seems totally mystified by boarding ? Truth is ive gotta lotta bottle, and a passion 4 wanting to excel at kiting,"But Stuck at mo" Do all boards turn heel side? Quote

sas_air Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 This may seem a daft and ridiculously simple thing to do but...I had exactly the same problem until someone advised me to open the footstraps up more so I could get more of my feet on the board. It sounds as if you have just got your feet tucked under the straps. If you open them up you will find your weight may be better distributed on the board-it worked for me. Plus I think selling a newbie a 4.9 Blade extremely dangerous and I'm pleased you have stuck with the sport. It must have been very disheartening at times. Quote
anna1599968635 Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 yer i started on a little windwing trainner kite...220....that was scary at times when i was new i took me a good 3/4mth to get used to just flying the kite...but now i find i love my 4m blade its the best. Quote
cookster Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 Daz, Stick at it mate and you'll be steaming along in no time. Like Sasair says, loosen the straps a bit so the ball of your foot is more toeside. Then when you get moving, counter the heelside bias by lifting your heels up. If you do this stationary, you'll see the wheels straighten up. Once you get the hang of this it should all come together and you should be able to hold a crosswind reach better. Also try tightening up the trucks with the spanner that came with the board. This will make stacks of difference in how the board handles as in it won't be so spongy!! Good luck buddy Cookster Quote
tomkite Posted November 7, 2004 Report Posted November 7, 2004 when i got my first board (scrub lion canyon 2) and had a little play with it while stationary i thought that the turn on the board was minute compared to a skateboard but when you get moving at speed you'll find out that th turning is actually quite good. What i'm saying is the faster you go = better turning. Stick at it,when i started i couldn't even go in both directions. Also as said before get your feet as far into the bindings as possible. The looser they are the easier that will be. Hop it helps Tom Quote
