DreadedTom Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 Aha! so there are people out there still! Have been pretty busy of late with the Uni kite club, trying to get people out to fly being a mission and a half. Simon from Pegas has been good to us and lent us a fair few kites for the club, so if anyone wants to try out a few sizes of chimera then let me know. I also have a 7m banshee on depower on loan for a while if anyone wants a play.It will be going out to Estonia with us during Dec to try it on the white stuff then will be back with Simon. What with this lovely high pressure system sat right over us i havent been out as much as id like though. Dont suppose anyone has a set of bindings to fit a comp 16 pro that they want to get rid of?? Picked up a board preety cheap and its sat there taunting me in its strapless and wheeless state. Cheers Tom Quote
lazarus Posted November 18, 2005 Report Posted November 18, 2005 you'll have to let me know if you guys are going to be flying any where on a week end i'm always happy to lend a hand with the newbies if needed, that and its all ways more fun flying in groups. that and i have a score to settle with that 7m banshee, not to mention an s-arc 1510 that i need to get some sky time with Quote

Siz Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Hey ho, Does anyone have any suggestions on other places we can go with the uni kite soc? I think the reason not many people are coming out is that it's a mission to get to roundhay by bus. Anyone know of anywhere easlily reached from headingley (preferably without dogs or children)? gregh Posted November 21, 2005 Report Posted November 21, 2005 Wot about the Uni playing fields up near Adel? Quote
lazarus Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 wind up there aint great, there are trees round the edges and a patch in the middle, they also seem to like putting up every goal post they can find. also has dog walkers and kids (organised football club i think). Tinshill Top might be better wind wise, but you still get goal posts (though not as many) dog walkers and kids and its close to the road. are there not enough people who drive to be able to organise lift sharing? edit: thinking about it there are fields next to oxley halls, you might be able to secure use of themif they aren't been used Quote
gregh Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 Lazarus, your thinking of Bedquilts I believe, I'm talking about the uni halls of residence before Bedquilts (Weetwood Hall????) Quote
lazarus Posted November 22, 2005 Report Posted November 22, 2005 i am thinking bedquilts, are you thinking the fields just before you get to the ring road? or are there other fields? Quote
gregh Posted November 23, 2005 Report Posted November 23, 2005 I'm thinking driving from Headingley to Otley, cross the ring road, past the police station on the right, then there are some large uni halls of residence and fields on the right hand side. regards, Greg Quote
paulriggers Posted November 25, 2005 Report Posted November 25, 2005 that be Bodington Hall. I've kited on there before but rugby post tend to get in way a bit. Siz/Tom - can't u hire the uni minibus and ferry people over there? or make a trip of it and head over to redcar!! think roundhay is easily the best and closest place around, hence it's popularity. DreadedTom Posted November 27, 2005 Report Posted November 27, 2005 "Siz/Tom - can't u hire the uni minibus and ferry people over there? or make a trip of it and head over to redcar!!" Unfortunately theres about 150 societies at Uni, so getting a minibus to drive people 5 miles every weekend isnt really an option. We're idealy looking for somewhere which is a simple bus ride for folk to get to. At the moment we're looking into Bod as a possibility. Tom Quote
