Siz Posted January 27, 2005 Report Posted January 27, 2005 Wicked, well we've nearly got all the signatures for the luu kite society/club now and have decided on a commitee - Tom is president, alison is secretary and I am treasurer (haha - me, in charge of money?!). I will let you know next time we meet up to talk about it and maybe you guys (maria, kit, paul?) can come along to give us some ideas, and become part of the commitee if you like. Hope to see everyone soon. Siz x Quote
kit Posted January 28, 2005 Report Posted January 28, 2005 Neil, about your forums idea. It sounds good, but I'm not sure if there is sufficient problem with the current format. What would be your suggestions of the different threads that could take place within the broader 'leeds flyers' forum? As far as I see it this is basically used for general banter and organising meeting up, and doesn't take too long to navigate! Well done for getting the committe sorted guys. I'd love to help but am already pres of another one and am looking forward to the break when the committee changes over! But I'm happy to share ideas. Kit Quote
paulriggers Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Whose Roundhay'ing it tomorrow then? Quote
DreadedTom Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Had a vey lazy wkend, paying the price now though:will be in the library for a good few hours.Maybe heading to roundhay tomorow afternoon some time, weather looks half decent anyway. Couple of us were thinking about having a forum get-together type thing.Bit of flying, few drinks in an olde worlde tavern then maybe move onto somewhere in town.Get to know who everyone is sort of thing. If anyones up for it we can sort out a date.If no-ones up for it then i'll shut up and go back to sitting in the corner. kit Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 No can do Paul. Tom sounds wicked mate. I'd be well up for kiting but have my SPEAK society meeting in the evening to sort out. But afterwards (say 7:30ish), yeah man. Give me a text or ring to say where you are going etc. (0774386046 seven). Sorted. Quote
DreadedTom Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Dont think we'll be going out tomorow, just mentioning the idea to see what people think.Idea is to try an get as many people to come out as poss. But should still be out flying tomorow:) Tom Quote

crazygeezer Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 I thought every night was a drink night for students... :D Didn't get up to Roundhay on Saturday as the wind looked pants...managed to get to Mablethorpe on Sunday and had a cracking day...apart from my Phantom seeming to have a liking for the sea. I now just need to empty half the beach out of it. I'm up in Leeds over the weekend, drinking on Saturday night and was thinking of popping down to Roundhay for a couple of hours on Sunday...assuming the hangover isn't to bad....will anybody be about??? Siz Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 Well, we've now given in our application for the Leeds uni kite society. Just have to wait til tuesday now to see if its gone through. bit annoyed with some of the union people though..apparently kiting isnt a sport (cos it isnt competitive), just a 'passtime' (a bit like knitting). Don't think they really understood quite what we were talking about. Little paper and string kites in the park or something. Ah well, we can wait and see. Sorry, had to have a rant... Quote
paulriggers Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 You should have asked them if it isn't competitive how is it possible to have competitions? Quote
Lovekylie Posted February 3, 2005 Report Posted February 3, 2005 You should have asked them if it isn't competitive how is it possible to have competitions? Yes the Super Cup , PKA races, X-zone games and more . O yes and the UK team http://www.flexifoil.com/community/forums/showthread.php?t=60541 Quote
crazygeezer Posted February 7, 2005 Report Posted February 7, 2005 Hi guys, well I came up to Leeds on Saturday evening and had a bloody good and messy time trawling the Leeds bars. Phantom and board in car ready for some Sunday flying at Roundhay. Woke up on Sunday morning, sick as a parrot...obviously the pubs and bars were just TO good. :( Oh well, maybe another weekend soon. paulriggers Posted February 9, 2005 Report Posted February 9, 2005 It's been a bit quiet on here recently - where is everyone? Been to Roundhay today, can't believe no one else was around, the wind was ace. 6 foot jumps with ease in succession. Then we tried to paraglide off the steep hill but just ended up doing some awesome bum scudding. Sunday's looking good, anyone Roundhay'ing or beach'ing it? Quote

I was concidering flying today, but the rain put me off a bit, that and I had a load of stuff to catch up on that i can't do on a weekend, so i took the sensible option ( it isn't often i get out of work early) I'm hoping to get to the beach this weekend provided the weather/tides are looking favourable Quote
