teah20 Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 I Have a set of lines that are only 20m and have a takoon skoop, I need around 27m can some tell me if I can add on extension and if so how to? Cheers Tom Quote
jakemoore Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 if the lines and extensions have loops on both ends you can just larks head one through the loop of the other. after you straighten it out it looks kind of like a square knot. Quote
teah20 Posted August 25, 2004 Author Report Posted August 25, 2004 Can i buy extensions or do i have to make them myself, as I have phoned a few shops and they said you cant buy them? Quote
Dr-Manic Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 I could be wrong but i think you would be better off buying a longer line set. I have never seen anyone extending there lines on there kites. I only fly on land it may be differant on the water Quote
npeac Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 its quite usefull to make extensions as it is easier to increase/ decrease the line length rather than changing lines but it does put weak links in the chain. get some q-line or hydro line and make em yoursleve Quote
Redmini Posted August 25, 2004 Report Posted August 25, 2004 give surf tech a ring they made sum for kitelunatic a think. www.surf-tech.co.uk flyboy used 2 use them in light winds on his flysurfer Quote
Tom S1599968609 Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 You can buy line extensions from any Naish dealer. Last years Aero II's came with 20m line + 7m extensions. The extensions are really good if you want to increase the power stroke of your kite i.e for jumping higher or gaining an extra bit of bottom end from the kite. If you want to speed the kite up and shorten its power stroke i'e for wave riding or rally high winds, just take the extensions back off. To join the extensions follow the diagrams... 1. http://www.floatsgone.btinternet.co.uk/knots/looptoloop/looptoloop1.gif 2. http://www.floatsgone.btinternet.co.uk/knots/looptoloop/looptoloop1-2.gif 3. 4.http://www.floatsgone.btinternet.co.uk/knots/looptoloop/looptoloop.gif http://www.floatsgone.btinternet.co.uk/knots/looptoloop/looptoloop4.gif If you have problems getting hold of some line extensions try calling Dave at Five Forty kitesports. www.five-forty.co.uk Quote
