Colinur old 14 does this mean a glut of V's are about to sprinkle on the market. i always remember you for propping up the second hand sale. I was out on your old 14m era last weekend, still a powerhouse
  4. http://www.seabreezesports.com/index.html They teach at bantham which is the local beach
  5. most people ar missing the point here that he got a lift to the bar, which if the wind is onshore puts him in a wierd position for a learner. it is the other side of a channel which has a crazy current dependant on which way the tid eis going. if someone is struggling to get out, as they cross the bar the current dissapears and a couiple of barrage ballons in the way become a major snag. equally someone who is pretty good may lose ground fast once past the bar again depandant on tide. all part of the learning knowing what the water is doing and your impact on the whole situation and though its easy to say the better guys should avoid its not cut and dry as this guy has been plonked out to sea and when its marginal the channel can be an upwindavator
  6. I have a set of north bladders, what size srtuts are you after.
  7. If you only want a little bit, halfords do repair kits with a selection of weights of cloth, resin and everything you need.
  8. info@colonawatersports.com email colona and ask them, might be a bit biased though.
  9. used to use one by liquigas, cost 15 quid and i could put it on the main bladder as i did the struts. finish the struts and top it off with the pump. in honesty saved me max 2 minutes but when you are snatching a sesh after work and its getting dark every second feels like it counts. unlike most i still use big kites as i am a big lad.
  10. if you love waves it is an awesome spot but if not there are better places. the flight if flying air mauritius is a nightmare, worst flight i have ever had. if staying at la morne dont pay for storage just keep the stuff in your room like aeveryone else does.
  11. some people will never accept leashes, some will. some kitesurf in tidal estuaries and feel leashes are pretty neccessary others rely on other people to chase their boards down. if you are going to use a reel leash, its well worth removing the brass clip and fixing it on the board(S) then when it does inevitably fail you dont get the brass bullet effect. Also handy just to carry on the harness as a third hand. i have a scar on my face from a fin. i wiped out doing speed training for speed week. the board was obviously not on a leash and i tripped forward so god knows how the fin found my head.
  12. They are great for learning the ropes as they are quite indestructable. take the 2 side fins off as they create huge drag. its quite bounce with very soft rails making it very forgiveable. the deck pad is very good as well making it a nice ride strapless. if its cheap, no brainer as you could always sell it on if you want to get a better one later on. oh and its a surfboard with straps rather than a directional kiteboard so you can paddle it if you are small.
  13. jump test will give a good start point. jump in the air or off a stool measure heel to heel and toe to toe do a few times to get an average replicate as close as poss on board experiment from there
  14. hows about draggin it. look at which bits would wear out and sticking teflon tape or just glue some on. assuming the place you are most likely to drag it is the airport, they have really smooth floor, same effort as draggin with wheel sjus everyone might think ur lazy.
  15. whitsands is the best for getting too from plymouth most places in the area are low tide locationns as well bar the duckpond which is the other way round. seaton is quite an advanced location and only used it in the winter, not easy with pub tranport either. the sdkk site ha info on most beaches and details in the forum. plenty travel from plymouth to bigbury but strangely not as many go to whitsand. free parking huuuuge beach and no-one else there.
  16. Is that 5 months from point of injury or after surgery. I ask because I shattered my tib plateau and was told to forget kitesurfing for 18 months at least. I know there are different grades for the fractures but that seems to be a huge difference in advice.
  17. yeah as long as you are confident playing round with leader lenfths to get it just tight. I used to use a PL bar most of the time, then moved onto a slingy one.
  18. Yes it will but they benefit from a longer throw bar so you may need to extend your chicken rope depending on which best bar you are talking about.
  19. Type cheap wetsuits uk into google or click. http://www.ewetsuits.com/
  20. Yellow pages or local industrial estate, find a bolt factor and it'll cost you a few pence, screwfix.co.uk as well if you can measure the diameter and pitch.
  21. If you already surf then it should be a breeze for you, the once you are up riding bit will be easy, start off in knee deep water stepping onto the board before practising deep water starts. As you already have a twinny i would advise at least a couple off sessions on that so you get used to the physics of starting, it will help you use the fin when you move onto the surf. I wouldnt bother waiting until you can ride upwind, just use the twinny to get the basics of getting up and riding as the way you ride a twinny and a surfboard are completely different in respect of kite power and useage so you might just pick up bad habits. I hate to say it but think about some kind of safe leash while learning as everytime you mess up the board will tend to return to the beach if your not quick, if this is through the line up the locals might become ex mates. Also when you fall, jump clear and try to break the habit of falling on to the board as your hook will cause a bit of a dent Boards wise, anything you paddle would be good, a bic 6'3 pop out is pretty indestructable but a little bit bouncy, good to learn on and you would have no bother shifting it in the summer, local custom stuff around 6 foot, i ride a 5'9 and weigh a bit more but i need to be quite powered to ride it, or lose some weight.
  22. yeah will have to be careful for a couple of days just in case things do come in 3s.
