Guest glamrox Posted September 4, 2003 Report Posted September 4, 2003 Hi all, I am quite new to this kiting lark and was wondering if there is anyone flying in the Berksire/Reading area (preferably buggying or boarding) that I could come along and meet/watch. I have flown a couple of deltas and a small parafoil but have investedin a firebee 4 so before injuring myself first time out I would like to gain some real know how. cheers Rich Quote
Ben3003 Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Hi rich i have just moved to reading and am interested in kites! i will be getting my first one in about a week! don't really know where to go for good winds?? any ideas? Quote
Knoxville Jnr Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 theres a few places to fly round here. i have heard there is a thing at Bulmersh on tuesday evenings although i havnt been there yet. believe its organised by the people who run tradewinds kites in harris arcade. (Very nice people!) Pinkneys green in maidenhead is usually very good with lots of buggys and boards when the winds up, you could try the great park in windsor but thats a bit of a hike. i fly at one of the fields at work in wokingham but if you wanting to beet up with a few people i would try pinkneys. that should get you going!. Cheers. Quote
Ben3003 Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 do tradewinds kites have a web site? Quote
Sandman1599968587 Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Hi You are more than welcome to pop over to pinkneys green and have a play with all the kit we have buggies, atb's, kites. We can usually be found flying on Sunday. This week however most of us are heading down to Newquay. send a pm if you want to meet up and need directions Quote
Furry Ginger One Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Here you go Ben. http://www.tradewind-kites.demon.co.uk/ Richard is very helful and extremely knowledgable. I managed to complete my set of Blade II's by getting a brand new 7.8 from him the other month at a good price. Quote

GaRRy Posted September 9, 2003 Report Posted September 9, 2003 Nah Tradewind kites is useless Over the years Richard has cost me a absolute fortune Sold me a wild thing 11 years or so ago and now i havre 25 + deltas and god know how many other kites. Then 10 years ago got me hooked on Buggies and been spending even more money ever since.(Bet he wished I had spent it all with him ) Thank god I moved and dont any more live near a convienint kite shop or im sure I would of spent even more. Yes I am joking Richard and Gill run one of the most freindly and helpfull kite shops any where in the country (and one of the oldest). if you live in Reading and have easy access I envy you. Quote
Filovirus Posted September 10, 2003 Report Posted September 10, 2003 actually i must admit... he's had more money off me in the last month or so than I've spent on food.. !!! it's just a little too convienient if you ask me... Quote
