Bonjour,

Just planning my summer holiday and I shall need my fix whilst I'm away. Does anyone know where to buggy near the following places:

Vannes, Lorient, Quimper, Brest and the Quiberon peninsular

Help would be appreciated, cheers.

Jim

Just searching through some old posts and came across this one.

I'm off to SW Brittany myself at the end of the summer and have just got myself a new Bullet to play with.

jimabbey have you been around this area yet (Vannes., L'orient, Quiberon etc.)... if so what are the beaches like for flying? Anyone else know?

Im going to Nevez for the last week of August and First week of September - Im taking the MTB - Ive weened myself off the precious buggy as it wont fit in the car for holiday(£500.00 on roof rack watsit=Blade 8.5M)

Hopefully there will be some sites about - I will be staying at a Eurocamp with beach 2kms away.

Anyone any ideas?

Le deaux fontaines is the place we will be staying - wish us luck!

Hi Russ,

Yes mate, just got back a couple of days ago. I found the most fantastic beach at a place called Plovan which lies about ten miles west of Quimper.

The beach was about five miles long and about half a mile wide at low water. The surface was hard packed sand and smooth as a snooker table. During the week it was deserted!!

Now the best bit...... There was warning signs displayed at all the car parks, warning the public to keep clear of kite activities which operate on this beach.

Better still there was only about three other buggies that I saw in two weeks.

This place is a must..... Fantastic

Regards Jim

PS don't tell anyone else, it's a secret!!!

Hi

Have just got back from Plovan

And everything jimabbey says is spot on

we found the beach purely by chance

They have a designated Kitesurf area on the beach & school

So the sun worshipers are used to avoiding that area of the beach

(Seems like the French can sort there beaches out !!!)

Theres also a Surf school as well

Plenty of room for Kites, Buggys & Landboards

I was buggying most days from 7.30am till 10.30pm

Most days only stopping for the tide to do its in and out thing

which was spent very constructively in the bar !! also on the beach

Good winds most days, nice flat sand even when the tide has been in and out

Can only wait to get back there next year :)

Well werth a visit

As jimabbey says

Don't tell anyone else, it's a secret!!!

Hope it helps

Ive just got back from Nevez - Really close to Plovan/Concarnieu? Those of you who have been will know where it is hopefully - There was some open space really close to where we were staying (20 seconds walk if I walked real slow) so I practices getting on and off the board using a bar but the beach! It was fantastic. There were no other kites about and I used to go up and down the beach on my board. The beach wasnt quite as hard packed as the others described so I sunk a couple of times and fell off the board - it was fine though.

The best bit though was when I was mucking about with my 4.9 blade and the wind picked up. I did a small jump - got caght by a gust and went large. I shot about 15 foot in the air and floated back down. I nearly soiled my underwear and my heart beat the fasted I have ever felt. Some one saw it happen and thought I did it on purpose - They were well impressed!

I reboked the pitch for next year - I cant wait!

Best of all - I am a serious claret drinker - a bottle of top notch Medoc or Bordeux Superior was about £2.50 a bottle!

Youve got to go there!

6 of us spent 2 weeks this summer in the Point de la Torche area - close to Quimper and although the weather didn't quite play the game the beaches are enormous and we could see the potential. Lots of naked blokes ranging in size from the chipolata to the pornographic. Scenery didn't quite make up for the lack of wind!

looks like it's gonna be a three week trip now, could be for life if i get enough good beaches....now there's a thought, perhaps I should compile a guide with photos etc and post it on the web.

once again thanks for the help and info
