Spudley Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 deckplate fitted to my exit camo tried with an old 4.0m sail yesterday not an ideal location and wind not quite up to it(very gusty) 5.4m today and got going nicely still a bit gusty though. cant wait to get to a beach now!! very easy to fit (one 8mm hole+large washer) good fun but i got more speed with a 3m firebee(power ringed) Quote
speedsailors Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Hi All Just one point to consider if you are trying Windsurf sails to mountain boards, If you are insured Through the PKSF for your kiting fun, this insurance will not cover you on a board with a sail. Hope this dosent put a dampener on your fun. Stay safe. You could always join the British Land Speedsailing Association (BLSA) Cheers Chris moore BLSA National Trainer/ Chairman Wind and Wheels Quote

fatoleboy Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Check out http://www.windscooting.com look at the vids, this guy has hit 55kmh with a windsurf sail, pulls some tasty gybes and stuff so you can see how it's done. I've got one of his development Aluminium kitescooters and it rocks, been hammering it for 9 months and haven't managed to break/bend anything yet. Getting the carbon deck model next month to try blasting with a rig, he suggests a 5.5m. If the windsurf model goes as well as the kitesurf board then I will be one happy bunny. Quote
speedsailors Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Hi all I have been Clocked at 55mph on a speedsail, and we have followed one of our racers a few years ago on a beach and clocked him doing 65mph. Cheers chris Quote
drunkmonkey Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Hey Coolnuts, thanks for the tip about vapor rub, i think i've found a new hobby. A word of warning. I tryed out deep heat for a more tropical experience, and found myself doing a most exellent impersonation of a monkey going ape. I'm still sitting on my ice tray. Quote

Spike J Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 After a 285 mile drive, we finally arrived at Gwithian to meet with Chris Moore from the speedsail crew for "the challenge". The wind being conspicous by its absence meant there would be no racing for the speedsail guys, (some travelling from France and Belguim) and no "challenge" for Kitedeck Quadrolution against their speedsail board. I thought this may be a good time to fit the necessary kit to our board just in case the wind did pick up or in readyness for a go on Sunday when there was a forecast for wind, but no-one seemed interested in fitting any kit to our board as arranged with Chris via E-mail earlier that week. The speedsail guys were just packing away when the wind picked up a treat, but it was a bit late for a race as we were loosing the beach to the tide, but still enough to have given kitedeck a go....if it had been kitted up! Sunday came with a decent wind so off we went to the beach to meet up with Chris to see if we could get this "Challenge" under way. There was a race in progress but I met Chris on the beach and he said their was not enough wind for his liking and he would not be bothering to race the rest of the day, so I thought he would get our board kitted up so we could give it a go after the race but he didn't seem interested, he walked over to the main area where the race was being run from not saying a word. We waited around for an hour or so and decided that nothing was going to happen as far as we could see. We packed our board up and set back for the long drive home, very dissappointed and a little angry:( A 600 mile round trip and This is the only pic I have, to give you an idea of what our board looks like next to a speedsail board, kitedeck is in the forground. speedsailors Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 Hi Spike Just to apologise, for the challenge not happening, but i did carry on with the racing, once i been told the format for the rest of the day, which was slalom, which i made the final. It was a bit hectic after that with me having to sit down and go over the days results. And on saturday by the time we had some wind there was no Beach left that was usable for us to do justice to both boards. As i said on the saturday happy for you to come down to Weston and we can try it out in less hectic times. cheers Chris Moore Quote
